My self propel cable on my mower does not work.

My manual diagram is not complete. The self propelled cable that goes to the transmission does not work. It looks like the break is at the transmission and there are parts missing that are not in my manual. The self propel no longer works.

Selfpropelled portion stopped working, replaced broken belt, have correct p/n for new belt, belt is slack ,self propelled not working

There should be 3 pulleys one on the motor on top of the blade, one on the axle for the wheels and one that goes to your cable to engage that pully and tighten the belt, take the cover off that hides the axle and pull your handle for the self propell and see if its tighting, some mowers have a little adjuster to tighten the cable on the self propell handle or even on the cable itself, did you make sure to run the belt between the guides over the blade, let me know what you find so we can further help

I have a Toro mower made in 5/09 self propel system it grinds when you pull it in reverse. The selp propel is not working. The belt is on. and it seems to be only the left rear wheel? The cable is not...

Yes it is the transmission. A Mower shop will charge you about $225 to fix.. I order parts online and fixed mine for $90. Transmission consist of 3 gears which turns the rear wheels to self-propel.

How to replace the self propelled

Make sure the cable to the transmission moves freely. If all the cables and lever s move freely than it more than likey is an internal gear needs replacing.

Mower will not self propel

You've not provided much information, but my guess is that you need a new belt. If this is not the issue, then please elaborate. Best of luck to you.

Limited self propell

The self propel cable needs to be adjusted. This can be done with a 7/16 wrench. loosen the nut that holds the self propel cable in place. You may need to pry this open with a screwdriver. Don't overdo it or you could break the plastic. Once the cable is loose pull it toward the mower deck, once the slack is out of the cable press the self propel handle in about a half of an inch. This should be close to what it was from the factory. Then re tighten the nut. And check the self propel to make sure it is engaging properly. If you hear a grinding noise when trying to engage the transmission then you will need a new transmission. Depending on if it is a front or rear self propel the part alone is either $60-$75 retail. Most repair shops will charge an hour to do this repair. I hope this answers your question.

Self propel always engaged

you may have lost the spring that pulls the transmission drive belt down or have the cable adjuster too tight.word of caution here, the cable goes thru the engagement lever and if you overtighten it the lever will crack or break. if it does the complete transmission will have to be replaced.seems they dont make the lever avalible seperate.

Self Propelled mower quit self propelling

you probaly have a broken gear or engagment lever. the part the cable goes through before the cable goes thru the deck. you also could have sheared a pin or the plastic gear that drives it.
