I called Cuisinarts repair center and they had me set my auto off button. It had been set to 0 so it shut off as soon as it started brewing. If you turn the switch to auto off, then when the numbers are blinking hit the hour button until you get the desired hours you want the heating element to stay on. Then when you stop hitting it it will remain at that time after you brew your coffee. If that doesn't work you can call the help line at 800-726-0190, just give them your model number and serial number, the device carries a 3 year warentee

How long does the heat plate stay on after brewing?

It depends on your brewer. Most will stay on as long as power is applied. IE; the Bunn pour over brewers are always on as these are office machines that always have coffee on around the clock. The only way to turn them off is to unplug them (or on/off switch)
* Check your manual for the options of the main heating plate. Most brands will have a separate switch for each 'side' warmer plate. Turn them on or off as needed. Note; try not to leave a brewed coffee pot on heat longer than 45 mins. Transfer brewed coffee to an 'Air pump" pot or similar thermos decanter.
* Larger brewers (1 gal and up) don't use warmers and directly brew into a decanter. These decanters are replaced with each brew and moved to the serving location. Some of the larger decanters have built in warmers using warmer power stations.
* Most (older) home brewers stay on as long as power is applied or On/off brew switch is on.
* Some of the newer (last 5 years) have auto shut off. But you must check your model and manual if it has this function which may require the customer to set it up for auto shut off option.
* Final, check with your MFR or coffee vendor. Especially if your equipment is on loan from a vendor. Have the vendor check your brewer and maintenance. They should advise you of the proper brewing methods for this brewer.

Cleaning

Check bunn.com for a free download of manual with maintenance instructions.
* In general;
-Keep the area clean by wiping down with a damp clean cloth.
-Remove the brew funnel and wipe spray head of coffee and grit.
-Wash the brew funnel after each use.
-Dump out old coffee and wash pots after closing. Heavy coffee stained pots can be filled with plain water and soak over nite. Rinse clean before using.
-For extreme caked on dried coffee pots; fill with hot water and leave on warmer over nite. Ask vendor for URN cleaner and add a tablespoon in pot with hot water. Let sit over nite on warmer plate. Rinse clean prior to use.
-Check if everything is working properly. Better to call and leave a message for service.
* when in doubt, call vendor for service.

DCC-1200 leaks coffee onto carafe and warmer plate

My coffee pot was leaking over the carafe and onto the warmer. I found that this issue was caused by the carafe lid. The lid was not allowing coffee to flow into the pot fast enough. I removed the inner mechanism from the carafe lid (it pops off really easily) and just sit the lid on top of the pot while brewing, and no more leaks! After brewing, I put the mechanism back onto the lid and twist lid onto the pot.

I have a bunn coffee maker that when it brews the first pot is hot after that the next one is not. It is the coffee maker that has two warmers on top. i didnt know if would be the heating element or...

While this brewer does have a reservoir that keeps a couple of pots worth of water hot for brewing you can get a cooler second pot if you brew directly after. You should hear the brewer heating up after brewing. Try waiting until it is back to temperature before re-brewing. If that heating takes more than a few (3-4) minutes then you probably have a problem with the heating element and the water is only being heated by the "keep warm" heater.

Will not percolate. Water is poured, it heats up, no coffee brew

Bunn Home brewers don't perculate. They work the same way that commercial brewers do. Fillit with water, let it heat for about 20 minutes, then put your filter and coffee grounds in the funnel, pour a pot of water into the machine, put the pot on the warmer, and let the water run through. Then enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee.

How do I make coffee with a Grindmaster Pourover Coffee maker?

COFFEE PREPARATION PROCEDURES
1) Place filter into brew basket.
2) Put the proper amount of coffee into the filter.
3) Slide the brew basket into holder.
4) Place empty decanter on warmer located directly under the brew basket and turn corresponding warmer switch ON.
5) Pour decanter of fresh water through pour-in opening at top of brewer.
6) Hot water will be delivered through the sprayhead. This distributes the hot water evenly over the coffee bed within the brew basket. The coffee will drain from brew basket into the container below.
7) Red light indicates warmer is ON.
8) Before brewing next pot, remove brew basket from brew rails and dump filter into waste basket.

Warming plate boils coffee.

Make sure you are using the type of commercial coffee pot like the one in the picture. They don't have to have to be plastic with the metal bottom, they can be all glass. The commercial pots are heavy duty and usually disperse the heat well.

If you are using commercial pots the only solution without replacing the warmers is to put three pennies on the warmer and to put the pot on top of them. The pennies will get hot so don't forget and grab them but the pennies help to move the pot just a little way away from the direct heat.
