Also make sure that your hand or fingers don't rest on one of the bottom (capacitive) buttons (these are buttons activated by touch) near the home button.. it can also affect what your phone does while holding down the power button

I put my U5i to charge and when I woke up in the morning it was shut down and I can't turn it on...In two words the phone died.

Did you drop the phone in water recently? Did you get it wet in the rain? Apart from the likely possibility that the phone is actually damaged/battery damaged, this happens if the power button gets damaged. When you put the phone to charge, in the middle of the night the power button "acted" as if it was pressed and held and the phone turned off. Now when you press the power button, nothing happens because the power button is damaged.

Take it to a repair shop and check the power button for damage. It is replaceable and should not cost a lot.

Does your phone have a removable battery? If yes then you might be in luck. If not, then just take the phone to repair shop and get the power button checked and repaired.

If battery is removable I know that it is possible to turn on the phone this way:
1) Plug in the charger to the phone
2) Remove the battery and insert it immediately. Do this multiple times and the phone should turn on without having to press the power button.
Hope that works.

My cell phone turned off and it won't turn back on. How do I get it to turn back on? I've tried the power button and already tried the volume, home button and power button at the same time trick.

Plug the phone into the charger. With or without the battery the phone should turn on when you hold the power button for more then 2 seconds. If the phone does not turn on then you should check with the manufacturer about getting a replacement under the Manufacturer's Warranty.

Need to turn phone on but the power button is broke. It charges and turns on but just the charging screen

Hello,

you need to replace the power button so that you can power your phone well again.

But there is another way by which you can power the phone without the power switch. This will involve you opening the phone cover so that you can gain access to the power button area on the phone board/panel.

Get a phone screw driver, open the phone, insert the battery into the phone, get a tiny wire and bridge the power switch panel and the phone will power on.

Try this, and it will work. I am very sure about this.

Take care.

Motorola Q power button

This is a difficult question to answer. First, make sure you did not accidentally drop any liquids on your keypad. Second, try removing the battery and replacing it. Thirds, try a Master Reset (Start, System Tools, Master Reset) BUT REMEMBER THAT A MASTER RESET WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOSE ALL PERSONAL DATA. After that I am afraid you may have to turn your phone in on an insurance claim. Good luck.
