You should not be able to pull fabric from the machine when the presser foot is down. The presser foot should always be raised before removing the fabric.
Are you trying to darn or quilt something without the feed dogs activated? If so, there are special presser feet for that purpose that are shorter in height (ie darning foot) which allow more space between the presser foot and the stitch plate so the fabric can be moved freely.

Sounds like the feed dog height is not set correctly. You could fix it yourself but you would need a dealers service manual and there is a height gauge that should be used although I have set them by eye...and experience.
Bernina's are fantastic machines and I have yet to find even one that is a lemon. Just like finding a good auto mechanic, you need to find someone that actually knows more than how to blow off lint and apply oil.
Your problem should be a low cost quick fix/adjustment that can be accomplished by a knowledgeable and skilled technician.

Hi there, On the top of the machine in the left corner, there should be a knob of sorts. If you turn it to the right, it will releases some of the tension on the fabric. But you don't want to loosen it too much otherwise you won't feed the fabric thru at all.

Make sure bobbin thread isn't laying on top of the bobbin. If you can see the bobbin thread when you look through the plastic lid that fits over bobbin, this could be culprit for sure. Easy fix!! Remove bobbin, put a felt spool cap holder into the bobbin case, put bobbin in making sure thread goes counter-clockwise. Make sure thread goes into tension slots. Pull thread all the way back so it falls into hole at left side of silver piece (stitch finger). Pull thread in needle toward you to raise bobbin thread up. When you begin sewing, the thread should now stay put and not jump out of place. If thread lays on bobbin, machine won't stitch properly. Felt spool holder will take up slack so bobbin stops rocking and jumping which causes bobbin thread to misbehave. Hoe this helps! One more thing: put in fresh needle in case you bent previous one, making sure flat side is away from you. Flat side behind, more rounded side facing you. Jimmy
