Lens can only be cleaned outside on the front surface. Use T-shirt washed with detergent then dried, never rinsed. otherwise you have to change the lense assembly, in front of the sensor. That is a big job.

Display is lcd in front of LED light screen. You can clean between led screen, lcd and also casing screen using cotton T-shirt material, after you disassemble the camera.

Nowadays, digital cameras are disposable, not worth fixing. Buy a new and better one soon.

you should replace the lcd screen from an authorized service center. or you can buy the lcd screen alone from ebay and find someone to replace it .remember

the image is all white or has lines through it.Definitely sounds like a repair issue, and has been a previous problem with the camera in the past. There is a defect in the sensor of the camera, and happens quite frequently in this model. I would try and contact Canon about it, and see if they'll repair it for free. If not, its probably going to cost more than the camera is worth to repair it.

I tried a hood from the HOODMAN and it was better than nothing but the best solution comes from http:\www.photosolve.com. They have a very reasonably priced metal hood that attaches with velcro. In addition it gives 2X magnification which is great for focusing macros, etc. I use mine with the Eagle Eye 5X lens and I get some really sharp shots because I can focus accurately. Try it. You'll like it.
