Did you first install the software on the computer, before you connected the camera to the USB connector? It is needed, so the computer knows what to say to the camera. Only then the camera can communicate with the computer.
Software, came on a cd with the camera, it they gave you a link where to download the software.

Could be that the camera has difficulty talking to the SD card because of old or oxided contacts. Check that the contacts are not worn or oxided.

Busy shows up in the screen not sure what this
is it all the time or only just after picture is taken? busy means that it's processing something, if it's shows for a while and then disappears that is OK.

After taking a picture the camera shows busy
It is writing the picture to the memory card, if you know it to be faster when you first used it the memory card may be wearing out replace with a new one. some electronics stores have options of faster cards as well. don't go overboard, but getting the next step up may make a good difference. Yet you may not notice a difference from mid quality to high quality unless we are talking dollars.

I have just purchased Canon Powershot A480
I think the "busy" part can be put down to the camera performing a function or recharging the flash. The red icon I THINK shows that the camera is focussing.

With the last model it worked so that you could half press the button to focus on something (eg a fast moving pet) and then once your pet stopped moving your could fully press the button to take a photo and the focus distance would remain the same.

Busy error
on the bottom of the camera by the battery there is a little niddle size hole press that,it is a reset button,make sure unit is on when you do that then it will reset to factory settings and every thing should work fine,try couple times if needed.if my info wad of any help to you please leave a comment,vote,note

Camara not working
elvintromp - have the phones firmware reflash or updated to correct the issue, you can take it to a mobile center close to you to have that done.

asdf1092 - replace the camera and service the phone.
