One of the weakest features of the ps3 is the blueray disk drive. For some reason, it goes out very quickly.

I have found that different computers only recognise certain disks. Maybe you need a variety of single disks to experiment which ones it will work with before buying a set of disks.

You did say it is a new computer. If it is there should be no real problem due to the usual warranty and the responsibility the retailer has for the products they sell. In addition if you paid by credit card you might discover it provides additional protection against faulty goods.

I would suggest trying some sort of laser cleaning device. You can pick one up at Target or Wal*Mart. How it works is there are a few small brushes on what looks like a normal CD. When you insert this into your CD player, the brushes run over the laser head and remove dust and other particles from it. This can help when discs are unreadable, or if there is static while trying to play a disc. Hope this helps!
