I turned it on and just one line accross the screen appears. the audio is fine.Everything is normal except theres just a line on the screen.

You have a vertical problem. You may need to resolder the vertical IC, and check each cpacitor that is near the vertical IC. Your TV will be restored to full screen!

Dell 1720 screen

If you can see the vertical lines during POST, try to check the vertical lines in BIOS. If the vertical lines are there in BIOS, the only thing you can do is to replace your LCD screen.

Vertical lines across my entire screen

My 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV HP-R4252 has a 2" vertical strip of green pixels down the right side of the screen.

My 3 year warranty with Circuit City expires in Nov 2008.. so I hope I'm covered.. can't call until the morning.

Samsung said it might be a logic board problem.. but they want almost $2000 to fix. I might as well buy another TV if Circuit City can't fix it.

Picture shows only about a 2-3" blue, green,or red vertical line down the middle

If your seeing vertical line across the screen you need to check the components in the vertical stage as well as the vertical IC could be bad, or the yoke could open.
Also check if any voltage reaching the vertical stage.

Good luck.

Tube turns on nothing else does

If the Tv turns on (power supply is ok), screen lights up (inverters are ok) but don't get a blue screen, menu options, source options, or audio, it's most likely the main board (aka Motherboard) is faulty. If a DVD player is hooked upto the TV, check whether you can get audio from that (change the source using remote), in such a case it could be a problem with LCD Interface board. My $3 is on faulty Main board.
