I want to switch on wifi but the switch is broken and theres no fn key available.

My laptop didnt enable the wifi with the fn+f8 key.
I even reset the cmos and nothing.
Then I went to toshiba drivers website and after installing the "thku" "toshiba hotkey utility" the fn+f8 start working and enable/disable the wifi. It now shows a popup windows when I press the fn+f8 key.

Before the wifi led was always off. Windows detected the wifi device but nothing on the wifi available list.
Now the led is always on, starts orange when I turn on the pc and blue when connected.

Does it come with wifi built in? If so turn on the wifi. There might be a switch on either side or the front of the laptop. If there is no switch you can probably use a combination of keystrokes such as FN function key + F1 thru F12. Press and Hold the FN key then hit the corresponding F1 thru F12 key that controls the wifi. The correct key will have the wifi icon )))) on it. If you watch the LCD Screen when you hit the key to toggle the wireless it will display Wireless On or Wireless Off.

If your laptop does not have wifi built in you can purchase a USB wireless adapter that plugs into one of your USB ports for less than $30.

LOL, wifi does not work off a network cable. The network cable is used for a local connection to a modem or router. Wifi doesn't not require a cable. Did it use to work? Have you checked on both sides of the laptop and in front of the laptop to make sure you have not turned the wifi switch off if there is one? Have you checked to make sure you have not hit the FN (Function Key) + (F1 thru F12 function key) that toggles the wifi on an off? When you Press the FN key and hold it down while pressing the Function Key that corresponds to toggling the wireless normally it will display on the screen Wireless On or Wireless Off. The correct key should have a wireless signal icon like )))) on it. That's the key you want to hit while holding the FN key.

and does it show you down in the right hand side of your screen that wireless
networks are available

if it is not enabled then try to press the FN+F2 or FN+F8 or FN+F11 or sometimes
there is a push or slide switch to activate the wifi

I would usually research this information on the acer.com website; however, their website is decidedly broken right now.
One thing you might check is whether or not there is a Fn key combination that you can press on the keyboard to switch-on the WiFi.
Look on the keyboard for a colored key labelled something like "Fn" and the press and hold that down while you press one of the other keys that has an antenna or radiating computer icon on it.
That should toggle the WiFi radio back on for you.
Sorry that I could not be more specific, but until Acer's web site comes back up again, this is the best that I can do.

pressing the fn key simultaneously press the keys marked with othr colours like orange \ or blue ..... these keys wil function whn the fn key is pressed...!!!

In the laptops that I've owned there is a Fn key that has a Wifi symbol on it, and other laptops, like my Acer Aspire laptops have a switch on the front that when toggled lights up and indicator that says that Wifi is enabled.

Look for a ))) symbol on a Fn Key.

To enable or disable wireless communication, use the Hot Key
Fn+F8.

To use the Hot Key Cards:
1 Press and hold the Fn key.
The TOSHIBA Cards appear along the top of the screen.

NOTE

Usually, if there is no HARD SWITCH for wifi, there is an equivalent keyboard key combination to turn wifi radio receiver ON. Look at your laptop's Function Keys: F1, F2, ... F12. Among them there is an icon for WIFI, something that looks like an antenna with wave signals. Now press and hold the FN key and press that function key with the wifi icon. Example, if the wifi icon appears at F10, then press FN + F10 to turn your wifi ON or OFF.
