Ive heard of this before. Many oven Manufacturers use clockwork timers which give 1 faint "ting" noise when finished. Others use electronic ones, which are not much better. If you are not standing next to the oven, you cant hear it. I usually recommend a separate timer , like a water timer or egg timer type thing which you can set (and Hear) and leave it near where you are working so you can go and turn the oven off. These can normally be purchased at Smiths, Tandys etc maybe Big W or K Mart

The volume on our stove for the timer is just about gone. What can I do to increase it?

Dependant on age and use, the piezzo cell is either clogged up with condensed cooking steam/grease or the control panel is faulty.
There is no adjustment unfortunately.

My wall oven is making a constant unusual noise

Without a model number its hard to be exact. If your oven is older it will have a clock timer motor that turns the dials or flips the clock display cards. This timer has gears and bushings that will be annoying as they wear and start a vibrating hum or clicking-usually not worth tinkering with..it can be taken out and checked or replaced. Electronic timers of course don't have any moving parts to the timer, but have relays in the circuit to turn the oven on and off. They do not 'whir'. This is the likely issue.

How to get over a problem with a quiet alarm

Just get over it, it's not important. Get a hearing aid. It's most likely your ears have aged and the alarm is just as loud as before. What?
It's also possible that the little noise maker has a hole to allow the sound out and has become clogged with dripping pizza, chicken fat, grease vapors, or because it's an electronic device in a hot box it may need replacing.

Timer volume too low

some units can be adjusted for louder tone volumes, depending on your model you can check the user manual supplied with the oven to find out if volume increase is possible or go to maytags web site and you can download a user manual or ask them online if its also possible to do this with your model

unfortunately there is no way of increasing volume of the bleep. its basically a simple beeper on the timer with no way of adjusting.
sorry cant be of much more help but what i will say is you should contact hotpoint about this problem as obviously is a design flaw.

Volume control candy oven timer

Switch off the oven, leave for 5 seconds and switch it back on.
Candy Customer Services asked for over £100 to have an engineer sent to my house, which I refuse as I thought the oiven was good.
I had to switch off all the electricity in the kitchen but after this 'reset' the oven turned to the normal 'high' volume.

Oven won't heat up

hi atdowhower, for your oven to heat the[ignitor]must heat up enough to open the oven safty valve.this happens by the ignitor drawing enough amprage thru the safty valve.just because it glows it may not be strong enough.or if you see no glow it may have a broke coil in that ignitor and wont glow at all.you wll need an volt meter to check if no glow.if soft glow, replace ignitor.shoul be very brite.God bless, tom
