hi it sounds like you have a faulty flexi cable

try www.carradiospares.co.uk. they supply spare parts

hi sounds like you have a speaker issue,
try disconnecting the speakers and reconnecting them one at a time.

either that or the power output stage is faulty

The difficult part is I have a KDC-X815 and you have a KDC-7024, so I have no idea how different they are internally/mechanically. But if it's any help, here are the (excellent) instructions I used to repair mine. I was able to find a replacement cable at a local stereo shop that also does stereo repair.

the kenwoods with the motorized face platesdevelop one problem with time. the flexable ribbon cable between the main unit & the face plate. as the face open & closes, over time wares out the cable. problem consists of face plate not opening/closing, display missing & and/or some or all buttons not working. note these can also be intermittent problems. typically the part number is located on the cable itself on the side where it pluggs into the main board. since you have a service manual, you should verify it in the manual. good luck.
