Adobe Reader is the free software from Adobe. If you need to create PDF files, then you'll need to purchase Adobe Acrobat.

unless you have Adobe writer, you cannot edit or convert a .pdf, .pdf is read only
Adobe writer is not a free download
You can, however, go to edit, select all, paste to wordpad and then edit and save as .doc

You can buy a USB-Serial Adapter at Best Buy for $36. Or, if you want to save money and spend only (roughly) $10, you can buy one on eBay.
