I have a 42 in. flat panel LCD Vizio tv, when I turn it on- it comes on to a blue screen for a second, then automatically shuts off. I have tried over and over to get it to turn on and stay on. It was working fine earlier today. I even tried unplugging it and that didn't help. How do I fix this???
Power on your TV and press the INPUT button on the side of the TV repeatedly and rapidly until you can change it to a different input, such as AV.
If this does not work. Try this: With the TV off, press and hold the input button on the side of the TV for about 5 seconds. The TV should power on and the input list will appear. Let me know if either of these work.
Happened to me, No Signal and then shuts off after a few seconds. TV is probably in the RGB mode. Since no computer is hooked up to the set, the TV says "No Signal" and will then shut off within seconds. To resolve you will need to attach a computer (laptop is easiest if you have one) to the TV RGB input. Turn on your TV and it should show what is on your computer screen. Then go to the input button on your TV and scroll to the input for the cable signal, or TV if no cable being used, and all should be good.
We had the same problem with our 47in Vizio E470VA. turnout it was remote. The remote control started putting out a constant "on/off" signal without touching any of the buttons . Our TV would come on and then go back off and then try to come on and then.......We removed the batteries from the remote control and it stopped. We now control the TV with the buttons on the side of the set while we awaite a new remote to be sent from Vizio.
Hello, I am having the exact same problem...turn unit on, it flashes snow, then screen goes nearly black, has a slight glow, only able to be seen in the dark.....the green "power is on indicator light" stays on during all of this.
If the set turns on, then off, then back on again, etc. And you have a signal, then:
Capacitor on power supply board. 100uF 35v. It's by itself.
Replace it.
If you have it set to an input for which there is not a source, the tv cuts off- try switching the input choice quickly when you turn it on.
This happened to me when i accidently selected RGB as the input.

If you haven't tried it yet, pull the AC plug and let it sit overnight.
Your set and most later ones do have microprocessors in them that can have 'lockup' problems similar to a resonal computer crashing.
If it still isn't responding to set-mounted or remote controls, you may have hada power supply failure.
