Why does freezer's alarm sound every 12 hrs?

Hi, My freezer's red alarm light is flashing and every 12 hrs the alarm sounds. The freezer is freezing below -20. It seems to be working fine other than these two issues. Thank you

There could be an ice build up sensor on the coil. try turning it off and using a hair dryer to melt any ice on the coil. This would be inside the rear of the freezer, you would direct the hot air into the vent that the cold air normally comes out of.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your help. I just bought the freezer. It wasn't plugged in for over a week. The alarm sounded within the first day of plugging it in. Would that be enough time for ice to build up? Thank you"

I would need make and model to look up the manual for you. Do you not have the documentation for this?

The temperature maybe too low. I know that commercial freezers may operate at -25 but this freezer may not be designed to go that low and this could be a warning sound. You say every 12 hours, you timed it or is this approximate??

And yes if the seal is not proper and the environment has a high humidity level you could have a large amount of ice build up very quickly. If it does happen every 12 hours this may happen because the freezer senses the ice, goes into defrost, then back to regular mode, and it takes that much time for it to build up again.

None of the actions in the manual match what you are describing. There could be a power fluctuation at the same times everyday that cause the circuit to reset and when it does this it beeps. Could be a change in line voltage or could be a dirty signal on the power line. It's rare but it can happen. The fact that it happens twice a day at the same time makes me think it is a large piece of machinery turning off or on. Some computer power supplies can really muck up the line signal. perhaps you live near something that affects the line.

Try unpluging and pluggin it back in if you haven't already. When you do this does it beep? if so I may be right about the line voltage being disrupted. If it is the internal clock on the freezer it self than you should be able to change when it beeps by unplugging it for a while and then plugging it back in. About half an hour should do it. Write down what times it beeps. than leave it unplugged for a while and after you plug it back in see if it still beeps at the same times of day. if it doesnt its the freezer, if it does something else could be causing it. worst case scenario deal with it and just watch the temperature to be sure or call where ever you bought it and have them replace the circuit board.

No alarm sounding but red light is flashing?

Warning light (red)
If the temperature warning light (4) lights up, it
indicates that the temperature within the freezer has
reached a level where the safe food storage is no
longer ensured. When the freezer is first switched on, the warning light will stay on until the temperature has dropped to
a safe level for the storage of frozen food.

Temperature acoustic alarm
This appliance incorporates an alarm which gives off
an audible signal whenever the warning light comes
on. This signal can be temporarily stopped by
depressing the push button for fast-freezing (6).
The fast-freezing push button can be released as
soon as the warning light is off.

Open door acoustic alarm
This appliance also incorporates an alarm which
sounds if the door is left open for more than 60
seconds. The signal will be stopped when the door is
closed again.

Why is the red light flashing on my zft810fw freezer when it is freezing ok inside

Under normal operating conditions, the internal
temperature of the freezer will ensure the longterm
conservation of the stored food.
When such temperature rises above a certain
level (-12 °C), the appliance will trigger an
acoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is a
blink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), while
the acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.
You can stop the acoustic alarm by pressing
the Acoustic Signal Stop Switch once.
When switching on the freezer for the first
time, the Red Alarm Indicator Light will
blink until the internal temperature has reached
a level required for the safe conservation of frozen
food.

The temp on my freezer is on normal and was working ok then just stopped and the red light is on turned up the temp to make it colder and the fast freeze but not working and everything is defrosting

Hi Denise, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

Did the unit previously experience a power loss? If the temperature of food rises to an unsafe level, the buzzer will typically sound and the red light, if equipped, will also glow. First, deactivate the alarm to the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker. Wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on the unit. After deactivating the alarm and the unit has run approximately four hours, the red light/alarm should go off on its own. If the red light/alarm continues to stay on, the freezer may possibly have a communication problem with the control board, temperature control or a wiring harness. If this is the case, I would recommend connecting with an experienced technician to determine the underlying cause.

Best regards!

My freezer has a different code number;ZFT710FW.I put quite a lot of food into the freezer yesterday and the alarm now keeps sounding,I have put the temperature up but the red light is still flashing...

Red Alarm Indicator Light

When such temperature rises above a certain level (-12 °C), the appliance will trigger an acoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is a blink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), while the acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.

Fast Freeze function
If more than 3-4 kg of food is to be frozen:
1. Press the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds to activate the fast-freeze function 6-24 hours before placing the fresh food in the freezer, the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator Light will illuminate. The compressor will now run continuously, to ensure that the fresh food is frozen as quickly as possible.
2. It is possible to deactivate the function at any time by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds.
3. Place the foods in the freezing compartments (indicated with graphics).
4. Once the food is completely frozen (it may take up to 24 hours) you can manually switch off the fastfreeze function by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2- 3 seconds and the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.
5. Move frozen food from the freezing compartments into the other compartments (storing compartments) to make room for another freezing.

If the Fast Freeze Switch is accidentally left on, the fast-freeze function will be automatically switched off 48 hours later. The Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.

I believe that you all understand. If you intend to freeze larger amount of food then certainly a few hours before some shopping switch on the fast freeze function.

Defroster get red hot

Kenmore Frostless Upright freezer model# 23971. The alarm sounded, all contents in freezer is frozen solid. We turned the alarm off, but the red light continues to blink. How do you reset the alarm and stop the red light from flashing? It has been 3 days now and every time we have check to see if the contents has started to defrost, there is no signs of defrosting, everything inside of the freezer remains frozen solid.

The temp alarm keeps sounding,I turn it off and in about 12 hrs it alarms again. The food is frozen and inside still cold

It sounds like the sensor has gone bad. You can either replace it or disable it. Of course if you disable it, obviously you lose that feature. If you want to replace it, you can get the part at kenmore.com or possible W.W. Grainger or APCO.

Alarm

the alarm is there to warn you that the freezers not up to set tempature.. The reason as I see what you wrote would be a stuck or burnt out auto defrost timer motor. or the units got a leak in the refrigerant line??? good luck
