Hi everyone!
I see sometime the problem question is too general. I recommend more details like in sequence. Like I press all other button and something not working the detail!. Anyway, menu doesn't working then. You should check the button itself has the tension of pushing and returning. Also, all other button along with it checking how it responds. Most of kind this type of problem come from main pcb got defective unfortunately. Try to bring to your local repair shop. Since it is old digital unit, so they can give a little discount.
Hope you luck! A Professional Camera Clinic Guy!
If give more detail then I give more!
I had that happen recently on my D-90. I fixed it by removing and reinstalling the battery. Hasn't happened since. If you've already done that and it didn't help, I'd suggest contacting Nikon support at www.nikon,com to see what they suggest.
Some authorized repair shops have a flat fee for repair of various cameras, some more than others. If Nikon tells you it needs repair,
get repair estimates or flat fee charges from several different repair centers. Often, if a single part needs replacing, it may be a simple "unplug the old part and plug in the new part" type of operation that costs only a bit more than the cost of the part.
Also, when I broke the battery door on my D-90, the Nikon tech explained that I could fix it myself and he had just received a shipment of replacement doors. They cost about $3.00 each and I bought two. Your repair probably will not be that simple but Nikon may be able to give you some tips to help save you money and maybe keep you from having to junk the camera.
There is no way to disable the menu button. If the button does not function, it's broken and needs to be repaired, probably by Nikon. Given the age of the camera, repair will probably exceed its value. Sorry.
