If this is a 1.2 or 1.6 .Unplug the accelerator pedal potentiometer by the pedal spray connector and socket and reconnect.

Glow plug light flashing

did you use the interface to cancel limp mode
you know its in limp mode

what was the printout of the diag

its aok to post i have a problem and this is the issues
but in limp mode you have no choice but too use software too fix the ecu etc to reset the mode fault etc

i think its the cold start system with air has an issue

if the glow plug light is flashing and the glow plugs are ok then its a sensor problem and a needed reset of the mcu to clear the error and retest...

from cold...!!

warm engine is prob aok
something air related

I have a renault clio that goes into limp mode when the petrol light comes on on the dashboard. it does 5mph What is the problem?

It is doing an automated fuel saver so you can get some petroleum and not run out. Keep it filled more than half so you don't hurt the I jesters or fuel filter.

I have a renault clio automatic, which i have jut bought. It is apt to get stuck into limp mode, and do 5mph, when the petol warning light comes on. What causes the problem?

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem if it is associated with the low fuel warning light.I wonder if it is fuel gauge isn't really relaying soon enough that you are low on fuel and by the time it does you are running on fumes.it could be a fuel filter that has water ingress or debris from an almost empty tank.who knows?First get the car checked at any garage for the diagnostic error codes that will be stored on the onboard ecu.
this is usually a free service.the limp mode episodes will be recorded by error codes which will pinpoint fuel issues, electrical issues etc.Otherwise you will be trying to go through a fix list that costs you time and money .

Engine managment light flashes (glow plugs light)

the car is going into limp mode due to an engine management fault. have to check what the fault is with a code reader. if the milage is high 100,000+ could be a turbo fault (overboosting), as this will put the car into limp mode.
