8 beeps means video problem
Try reseating the video adapter
look to see if the fan on video adapter is working if it has one?
Ok well have a look at this direct from IBM website for code meanings
http://home.cvc.org/howto/beeperrorcodes...
this might help you > a manual for your pc
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/netvista/19k6513.pdf
be sure to have a look at Chapter 4 FRU Replacements
I do see in Symptom-to-FRU Index under Beep symptoms it is saying Beep Symptom> 8 >Display read/write error
Then FRu Actions is 1. memory module and 2. System Board
Hope this was helpful to you friend
best of Luck

Hmm, the netvista is an all in one - i think the video is built in to the mother board - and cannot be replaced or reseated. computer model number is 2179-77u
Thanks very much. I already have the manual and found that beep symptom - i have tried the memory cards in just about every combination, so i guess the whole thing is dead and just needs to be replaced. I might try changing the memory again, but it is a lot of work to open it up, change the memory, close it up and turn it on to hear those annoying 8 beeps and repeats - i suspect it is system board. I hate to just throw the whole thing out and replace it - i wanted to try to make sure it wasn't just the battery or memory - but i guess it would be more time and trouble to find a fix than a replace. I hate that. I wish i could find a repair shop that could help me, though.
