I've got the exact same problem - keeps saying "no print cartridge". i just bought a new one and the problem's still there.

Yes, I have an HP Laserjet 3055, and it shows "no print cartridge". It was making a funny sound, like it was having a hard time to get the paper to go through, so I opened it up when it was done with the print job to see if anything was stuck in there. Then when I closed it up, it started with this "no print cartridge" message. I put another cartridge in, smae thing. I turned it off & on, turned PC and printer off and on, nothing.

I had the same problem, and the solution given didn't work (taking out the paper, opening & closing door, putting paper in, powering off & on).

No printer cartridge displayed when there is a cartridge in the printer

  • bartonylee Jun 25, 2008

I did all the things to do and still the "no print cartridge' message appears. I took the paper out/in, power on/off, cartridge out/in, looked for any loose plastic that might be at the bottom.

It was a paper jam that cause all this. About half the page came out before it got jamed. I pulled the rest out. I don't see any other paper in the printer.

Where is the sensor? Any suggestions? Thanks.

My HP 3050 shows "No print Cartridge". I have tried all the opening and closing and power cycling tricks. The difference is that we suffered a power failure. The printer was not on the UPS, but was with a surge protector. When it powered back up the no print cartridge light was on.

There was no indicated surges or problems, but this is suspiciously related to the power drop.

    Thanks

The solution above worked on my printer, without power cycling.
1. Remove all paper from the input tray.
2. Open and close the door.
3. Reinsert the paper into the input tray.

Thanks,

Ilyas

These instructions worked perfectly. My daughter told me to google the problem before I went to buy a new cartridge (which I didn't really think would fix the problem anyway). I couldn't believe the paper removal fixed the problem. Bad message is really the problem. Thanks,

I opened the back of the printer and found the arm to the sensor was hung. Cleared and printer tested good. Steve www.TucsonPrinterService.com

1- Take all papers out.
2- Powercycle turn off and on.
3- The message will disappear, thin you can reinsert the papers.

After trying everything, I took the little back panel off the printer and low and behold the little sensor arm had come out of its catch. I snapped it back in and everything works now!!!

I was not looking forward to taking my printer to an overpriced repair shop. Unplugging the power and removing the paper worked....thank you for the help.

"No Print Cartridge " message is displayed on the HP LaserJet 3015, 3020, or 3030 series product's control panel, even though a cartridge is present. The same message can be triggered on the HP LaserJet 101x series products. Resolution Follow these steps:

  1. Remove all paper from the input tray.
  2. Open and close the door.
  3. Reinsert the paper into the input tray.
  4. Powercycle (turn off and back on) the printer.
The error will then go away. FW Datecode 20040330 update: Since the message on the control panel is confusing, the message has been updated from "No Print Cartridge " to now display "Check Cartridge/Check Paper Tray " message. NOTE: It is important to remember that regardless of which printer is being used, or which revision of device firmware is being used, the resolution is the same; removed all of the paper from the paper tray, restack the paper and reinsert it into the paper tray. This will position the input paper so that the engine sensor will not be tripped. Description The printer uses a physical sensor to detect whether or not a cartridge is present in the device. This sensor is mechanically linked to a second sensor that detects whether or not there is a jam in the pick-up area of the paper path. Since these two sensors are linked, when a jam occurs in the pick-up area, the engine does not know if there is an actual jam or if the cartridge is missing. The printer uses an algorithm to choose between a jam message and a missing cartridge message based on whether or not the cartridge door has been opened. If the door has not been opened recently, it is determined to be a jam. If the door has been opened recently, then the cartridge is missing. Therefore, if there is a jam in this area and the door is opened and closed without the jam being cleared, the printer believes the cartridge is missing. The error is generally seen when a jam occurs that involves multiple pages that are staggered throughout the paper path. Most of the jammed pages are cleared by opening the door, removing the paper in the path, and then closing the door. Occasionally, some pieces of paper are picked and only advanced into the paper path by approximately 1 or 1.5 inches. These mis-picked pages might not be obvious because it is hard to see that these pages are actually in the paper path since the pages have moved such a small distance. This is when the "No Print Cartridge " message is incorrectly displayed. The "No Print Cartridge " message is confusing if the pages have only advanced an inch out of the paper tray - removing the cartridge will not show the problem as the paper has not advanced far enough to be seen from the inside of the printer.

I have a HP Laser jet 3320 and have this message popping up. I unplugged the power cord to reset it, took all the paper out, took the toner out and reinserted it and still nothing works. I looked in the back and everything seems to look fine. Don't know what to do.

Wow, I had the same problem where this solution didn't help, then I found out that there was a piece of paper, caught underneath the cartridge. So, just as the other guy said, make sure there is nothing underneath the cartridge!!!

Posted on Apr 27, 2008

Geez, I had the same issue as Solution #3 above. I am not even sure where the plastic tab came from, but it was buried way down in the bottom. I pulled it out, and everything is back working fine. There must be some plastic part on this thing built funny, where it breaks off without the user knowing.

Posted on Apr 26, 2008

After opening and closing the door several times, power cycling and trying the paper restacking nothing worked... I put in an old cartridge that worked before and it was fine. the cartridge that didn't work looked kind of old (remanufactured) maybe it wasn't showing up to the sensor well enough.

Posted on Apr 10, 2008

I'm one of the commenters above that said the Nov. 17 solution didn't work. Turns out that little plastic tab from the output tray had somehow fallen into the machine and was under the cartridge. make sure there's nothing under the cartridge!

SOURCE: HP Photosmart D7360

HP support decided it could not be repaired on line, agreed to replace it but found it was a few days out of waranty...so it is dead in the water. Probably not cost effective to repair it.

SOURCE: The printer doesn't recognize the new original HP color cartridge

There is a small spring that holds the ink cartridge in the ink holder. You will see it stick out from the right hand side of the ink holder where the ink cartridge slides in. If that spring isn't being held to the ink holder by two plastic tabs, (I.E. the plastic tabs are broken) the printer will never recognize the cartridge. If the printer is still under warranty I would contact HP or an authorized repair center for HP. Both the black and color ink holder has this spring. I know of no way to repair this kind of breakage.

Ink levels lights flashing but ink is full

Might be cartridges are refilled.
You may got doubt why its not measuring the ink levels?. When printer found new catridge(printer/system based on design) will treats that new cartridge installed & estimated level will display fully. After couple of print outs printer/system will displays estimated ink levels depend upon the ink usage. But there is no mechanical ink level sensors or any other device for mesuaring the levels..Once the ink level trated empty you need to replace new cartridge straight away,if you refilled the same catridge it wont measure the levels, because of the cartridge data code already stored in printer. ..

Display says "Remove and check right cartridge", but even replacing the right cartridge with a new one does not fix the problem, and the printer will not function.

This HP PSC 1610 all in one - scan / fax / copier *** printer, normally the cartridges inserting
locations might have caused some issue. When you install the genuine catridge and getting the
error. Might be the catridge inserter might be replaced with local hardware engineer is the best solution. Moreover this type of printers are HP itlsef is giving the maximum life of 3 years only as printer life time.

In our office we are using HP PSC 1110 - 4-in-1 printer and it is having the same problem, but when the message displayed, we will just say OK and it will automatically print the necessary pages.

Best of Luck always.
