Caller's area code no longer appears on phone screen. Would like it back.

you may have the settings of your ViSYS to so that the phone knows the area code of the phone already.
If so, that will make the caller id display only the 7 digit local phone number. This is so you can easily call back that number, since most telephone exchanges don't require the area code before the phone number if the caller is in your local calling area.

932 does not appear to be a valid area code. If that is indeed the number that came up on your caller id, I would suspect that the caller had some kind of device to mess up the information it sends. I've received calls labeled 000-000-0000 which obviously isn't a real phone number.

You need the area code of the person's phone number saved with their contact information in your phonebook. So for example:
John Doe
555-664-5974

Call Talkswitch, they will offer a swap for another system and bill you $500 to do so. This happened to me twice. First swap was $250. A year later it is now $500. I was told this increase was due the end of the system life and a shortage on parts. My system is just about 4 years old. My next system will have telephone line surge supperssors inline with the telephone lines.

Somewhere, you told it your area code. Take that part out or put a different one in and it will show 10 digits.

I have just purchased the Shift3 Talking Caller ID Phone. For some reason, the talking caller ID function does not work, i.e., no announcement is made identifying the number of the person calling. The "Set 8 Speech" is set "on". Any suggestions to getting this to work?

Not sure why this worked, but I went to the Menu and the Set Area Code selection. The area code setting was blank, so I entered my area code and saved it. Caller ID started to work again. As a test, I went back to the Set Area Code selection and deleted the area code and saved it. It is currently still working. Seems really odd, but it worked for me.

While the present Caller ID information is displayed, pressing */tone/< will place
or remove the prefix "1" in the display to set the call for a long distance call, or
pressing #/> will set or cancel an area code (see page 30).
Storing Caller ID messages in the Phonebook
Messages shown in the Caller ID list can be stored in the phonebook. The phone
number and name of the party on the Caller ID list can be stored in memory.
1) When the phone is in standby mode, select the Caller ID message to be stored.
Then press the STORE soft key on the base or the EDIT soft key on the handset.
From the handset, then select E D I T ?. S t o r e / E d i t N a m e appears. If the Caller ID
message is already stored in memory, you will hear a beep and T h i s d a t a i s
a l r e a d y s t o r e d ! ! appears. The number will not be stored.
2) To complete the setting, follow the steps 3-8 in "Phonebook (Storing Phone
Numbers, Names, Distinctive Rings, and Speed Dial)" on pages 42-43.
