You need to have caller id activated on your phone line and it is a subscribed to feature and is not free. Contact your service provider for more information.
If the display never shows caller ID info, check with your phone service provider to be sure caller ID is active on your account. If the display sometimes shows only number instead of caller ID, write down the number. Then go to www.okcaller.com and search the number. Some business names will show up. Often you will at least find out what city & state the caller is from.
By either using a caller id box or a phone that supports caller id. If caller id is active on the line your it will register the data and display it accordingly.
The radio does not have Caller ID in e sense a telephone has Caller ID. The radio is programmable for 99 different channels, and the channels can be named (aka alias) which will show on the screen either when you are on the specific channel, or if scan is activated it will display when the radio stops on a channel with activity. This could be mistaken for a sort of Caller ID.
If you answer the call, the number (or number and name) stays on the display until either you or the caller hangs up.
If
you do not answer the call, most display units keep a record of the
calls received, including the phone number (or number and name), date,
and time.
If the letter P, priv, private, or a similar term appears, the caller may have blocked the display of his or her number.
If the letter O, ????, out of area,
or a similar message appears, the caller either is in an area that does
not support Caller ID or has placed the call using operator assistance.
Caller
ID comes with Anonymous Call Rejection, which, when active, allows you
to reject calls from callers who block their number. Your phone does
not ring, and the caller hears a message saying blocked calls will not
go through.
