One of my first questions is has it worked at all.? If not, probably the wiring is backwards. They generally are good timers. If it has, you may have the power leg to it tripped. Turn off both legs and then back on. This should take care of it. Next , probably the motor. Get a whole new timer. Not worth the savings and effort to fool with it.

I have never seen a parts sheet for defrost timers, except replacement trippers.
If 120 volt clock motor is available somewhere, it will probably cost as much as replacement timer.
Make sure you are getting 120V across terminals 3 and X, and there are no loose wires under the terminals

Paragon model 8141-00 defrost timer wont turn.

Is this a used timer?
8141-00 is 120 volt timer.
Is your 120 volt Hot wire on terminal 3 and Neutral on terminal X?
Test across 3 and x for 120 volt.

Don't buy used defrost timers... they always look good when you inspect, but never work when connected... that's why the timer was taken out of service and sold as used timer.
Save the old trippers for use on new timer.

I am looking for a source to replace timer motors and silver contacts on a bunch of paragon 8025 24 hour timers.

http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#defrost

According to e-mail I got from Paragon in Nov 2010, Paragon is no longer making timers and parts.
Except for defrost timers.

I don't know how narrow the Paragon defrost line has become, if they still making their commercial refrigeration timers, or if they're just making smaller refrigerator defrost timers.
Or if Paragon has parts for the 8025

I need a set of trippers for a Paragon 4001 switch timer. Need both "On " and "off" trippers. Can you find some?

Paragon 4000 series timers uses X2772 tripper
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html

Google search x2772 tripper
Frontier Lighting shows they are out.
A couple other places show 56-60 dollars for the tripper

In November 2010, I got e-mail from Paragon saying that Paragon stopped making timers and parts for timers, except for defrost timers. 4001 is not defrost timer.

Intermatic has cross-reference link if you want to buy new timer:
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/competitive%20cross%20reference.aspx
Cross reference shows T-101 timer matches your timer.

Aplus supply sells T101 for $60
http://www.aplussupply.com/intermatic/timer.htm
Amazon sells T101 for 43$ with free shipping over 25$

I have a paragon 8145-20 defrost timer. do you wire the compressor to the timer? I cant seem to find a wiring diagram on how to wire this correctly

Link below has wiring diagrams and wiring manuals for 240V 8145-20
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#defrost

I am not expert installing defrost timers.
According to information from Paragon, 8145 is for hot gas defrosting. 8140 series are time initiated, and pressure-or-temperature terminated.
Wiring diagram does not show compressor wired to timer.

The cycle works like this:
Timer is running but defrost is not switched ON.
Fan is ON.
Timer switches ON and activates defrost cycle.
Fan turns OFF. Hot gas valve turns ON for defrosting.
Cycle limit switch is temperature or pressure sensitive.
Cycle limit switch reaches trip point, timer switches OFF.
Hot gas valve turns OFF. Fan turns ON.
So fan is off during defrost cycle.
Hot gas valve turns ON when timer switches ON.
Timer is switched OFF by pressure-or-temperature limit switch.

On a Paragon 8145-20 Defrost Timer, I know you land the refrigeration circuit on terminal 4, the heater on terminal 3, but what goes on terminal "X" and terminal "N"

Link below has 8145-20 wiring diagram:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#defrost

Terminal N is 2nd wire needed to complete circuit.
In 240V 8145-20, there are two hot wires.
One Hot connects to terminal 1, with jumper to terminal 2.
Second Hot connects to terminal N, and this will power the clock motor and timer.
Terminal X is for temperature or pressure termination switch.

Defrost cycle works like this:
Timer is running but switched OFF.
Refrigeration fan is ON.
Timer switches ON, defrost cycle begins.
Refrigeration fan turns OFF.
Hot gas defrost turns ON.
When temperature-or-pressure limit switch reaches trip point, it switches timer OFF.
Refrigeration fan turns ON again.
Hot gas defrost turns OFF.
