Firstly, have you checked the manual?
if you don't have one go here
http://www.jukihome.com/downloads/manuals/TL98Q_InstructionManual%28ESF%29.pdf

you need to look at page 12/13.
once you have placed the bobbin onto the spool holder (the short metal pin) thread the yarn around the bobbin, then push the long curved bar up against the bobbin where the thread will be wound. If the bobbin is not fitted on the pin correctly and the curved bar won't fit into the slot. The movement of the curved bar disengages the needle and wind the bobbin, the curved arm will move as the bobbin fills and automatically stop.
i hope this helps

  • You push the bobbin to the right and the machine should start winding.
  • When the bobbin is full, the stop, against which the thread bears when the bobbin is full, pushes the bobbin to the left and stops the motor.
As far as I am aware, there is a separate little motor to wind the bobbin, actuated by a micro-switch. If this switch is not functioning the motor won't run.
You can take the machine to a mechanic for a fix if you don't want to take the lid off the machine and check the switch is in the right place or buy a separate bobbin winder for less than the service charge.

Pop an empty bobbin on the thread spool. You need to disengage the motor from the presser foot so that the motor no longer makes the presser foot go up and down, but sends the power to wind a bobbin on the thread spool. Check with your machine's manual, but this is usually done be either pushing in, or popping out a button on the hand wheel. Begin a new thread on the bobbin following the directions either from your manual or as printed on the machine. On my Bernina, I have to push the thread spindle sideways to engage the bobbin winder. Use your foot pedal now and the bobbin will automatically fill up. It should stop when full, then you reverse your actions. eg: push the thread spool back, pop in the button on your hand wheel, insert the bobbin (check with your user manual as to clockwise-anticlockwise, and yes it DOES make a difference!) Re-thread your machine (always with the presser foot up) and make a test stich.
I hope this helps and happy sewing.

My bobbin will not spin not in bobbin filling position or when

Sewing Machines have a couple of ways to start bobbin winding.
1. Push the bobbin spindle all the way to the right then use the foot pedal to start winding.
2. Push the bobbin spindle all the way to the right, Push in on the indented area in the center of the "flywheel" on the right side of the machine then use the foot pedal to wind.
Hope this helps.

Singer 7258 error e2 when winding bobbin

I had this problem too. What I did was turn the post the bobbin sits on to the left (lefty-loosy) and kept re-booting the sewing machine until the bobbin started to spin correctly and the needle disengaged! I was so happy I figured it out, I did not want to return the sewing machine.

Please take your machine out of bobbin winding mode.

My bobbin won't catch on the bobbin winder, the metal post spins but the plastic singer style bobbin won't spin with it. What's wrong?

The bobbin may be stripped, or the bobbin winder might be stripped; try it with a different bobbin, to rule out the bobbin being the issue; if that doesn't work, look closely at the bobbin winder to see if it has been damaged. You may be able to adjust it's shape with a pliers

My elna sewing machine bobbin won't spin on top to wind thread around. The fly wheel spins though...I've been putting thread on the bobbins by hand.

If the fly wheel is going around then the clutch isn't disengaged to wind the bobbin, you need to pull out the flywheel on your model to disengage the clutch for bobbin winding.

Take thread from thread spool across to bobbin winder thread guide, then back to bobbin and thread the tail through the hole on top of the bobbin. Place bobbin onto spindle on top of machine and then push it against the stop to engage the bobbin winding motor. HOld the thread tail up and start winding slowly until the bobbin core has been covered including the starting point. Stop and trim off the thread tail with scissors. COntinue winding bobbin and give the thread a nudge if needed to wind evening top middle and bottom of the bobbin. A good smooth wind is important. Also don't wind at full speed and keep an eye on the thread reel that the thread is coming off, you don't want it bouncing around as this will **** the thread and stretch then relax it affecting your bobbin wind.

Obviously if you know this and the bobbin winding mechanisim is just not working, then it will need a service/replacement by an Elna repair person.

My Model # 1120 Singer sewing machine needle will not go up and down when motor is pressed. The bobbin winder, however, spins.

It sounds like your machine is set to wind the bobbin right now, so the drive is disengaged. That would explain why the bobbin winder pin is the only part moving. Check your manual for how to reset the machine when you are finished winding the bobbin.

Most machines have a way to disengage the drive for the needle while filling the bobbin. Then once the bobbin is filled, you re-engage the drive. Some machines have a separate, smaller hand-wheel that turns and clicks into place. Some machines automatically reengage the drive once the bobbin pin snaps into place away from the drive belt.

I hope this helps!

Problems winding bobbin, is all of a sudden partway through fill, and the thread slipps below bobbin, and turns around metal post. Cannot get thread off post.

The reason is probably because the winder post is not perfectly vertical, check that and also make sure you put the thread round the pretension wheel before you wind a bobbin, getting to the inside to adjust it is very difficult.

How do I load a bobbin?

There should be a small spindle up on top near the wheel (right hand side).
Start winding the thread on by hand a few wraps to hold it in place and put the bobbin on that small spindle, making sure it is going to wind the proper way. To find out what way it will wind you can first (without the bobbin) push the spindle to the right so that it spins when the wheel turns, turn the wheel by hand for this so you can see which way it is spinning the spindle. Is it clockwise or counterclockwise? Then put your bobbin on and push it to the right so that the wheel will turn the spindle as you press the foot pedal. You should have some sort of tension clip on the top left of your machine, it looks something like the top of a big screw or may be a flat hook. Put the threat under that so that it goes directly from the spool to the bobbin, NOT through the needle. As gradually as possible wind the thread onto the bobbin but not too full, most machines will stop filling it when the bobbin is full. If yours does not, stop filling it when there is still about 1/16 th of an inch room left.

Bobbin does not fill completely

Machines that stop the bobbin winder automatically when the bobbin is full have a mechanism that detects how much thread is accumulating in the bobbin while it is winding, then stops the winder when the bobbin is full. It is likely that the bobbin winding mechanism needs to be adjusted by a mechanic.
On the other hand, if the thread winds evenly, and stops winding when the bobbin is about 3/4's full each time, you probably don't need to worry about it if all else is good (even tension, consistent stitch quality, and so on).
If you'd like me to post some general troubleshooting tips, let me know.
Good luck
