You should have a VGA port (3 rows of pins, blue connector on the laptop) plug in- or you could have a HDMI port. after connecting right click on your desktop and go to screen resolution. hit detected. the rest should be easy.

The PC interigates the projector when it is booted, that is why it works when connected for the second time. If you connected it up and after waiting for the projector to boot, then boot the PC, it may well save you the trouble of resetting the resolution to match the projector.

There are a bunch of steps I could walk you through to detect the projector and then set the correct resolution and color depth. But it will be easier to have you just attach the projector and then restart the laptop so that the system will attempt to re-detect the second display automatically.

Then just right click the desktop and select properties. Go under display properties, settings, and enable the second screen (2) as either a cloned or extended display.

Do you have an SV plug in on both your laptop and projector?..the laptop video out(SV) and the projector video in(SV),if so...try an SV wire connector:)

Generally, a cable connection or cable issue. not all the color signals are making it to the projector. Try reseating the cable connections on both ends. If no changes, then try another vga cable

If you have a replacement cable test the DVD using a different cable, you never know.

Try the following:

• Unplug both projector and DVD from power.
• Keep units connected together by video cable.
• Connect back and restart the DVD first.
• Restart the projector only once that DVD is ON.

If it still does not work , then there may be a fault.

There is no way to connect Sony projector remote control to a Dell laptop.

You need to go into the control panel and see if this model will support dual display.

Guys, the projector doesn't do HDCP.  HDMI won't work.  You'll need to run over component or VGA.
