If you never did this before , I strongly advise take it to a local shop....if you don't seal it correctly, you will end up buying a new one for water getting in.... I fix alot of things on my boat but not the trolling motor....your choice....GL

Burning out fuses on trolling motor at battery

not enough info. I went the the min kota website, they show four maxxum 80's at different voltages.is it a 12v 24v or larger? without a year model I'll have no reference to what wiring schematic Is the fuse connected inline with the trolling motor? what size amp fuse are you burning up? well I can give you some troubleshooting tips. tools to buy (1) amp gauge. if you are unfamilier with amp gauges make sure you get instruction book with gauge or you could burn yourself. Toubleshooting(1) Remove cover off minn kota trolling motor. black cover ontop of unit were the foot control wires go into.turn over foot control remove cover (2) check for corrosion. any exposed terminals should be cleaned.(3) go to your batteries and clean all connections. make sure the batteries are fully charged.(4) take amp gauge and test positive wire for amp draw as you tun on trollling motor and run it through all speeds. if batteries are in the rear away from trolling motor get a 2nd person to control trolling motor. if the trolling motor is more than a 12v system you will have more than one positive lead to test.GOAL. What your trying to find out is how many amps the trolling motor is really pulling. and at what speeds. under a load in the water and out of the water.how many more amps than the fuse raiting? newer trolling motors come with inline breakers not fuses so I'm guessing your using 30 amp fuses. again without more info i can only guess.

Water got inside of my motor and damaged the bearings how can I get new seals and bearings

A few years ago, I once found the rubber seals through a SEARS parts web site to replace the water seals in my trolling motor. I was able to install two seals, back to back, as added protection.
Call a SEARS parts center to see if they can check their data base for your parts.
Also GOOGLE the trolling motor doctor.

Minn Kota 65lb thrust 24v

Hello!
Your unit was desined to run on 24 Volts.
The control unit (electronics) will not run below 19 Volts (19 or 20, I can't remember) and the armature windings and magnets are designed for 24V as well. So, an easy answer is no your unit will not operate in 12volts.
Hope this helps out!

My trolling motor maxxum 74# thrust feels like i have broken something in the shaft. It is almost impossible to turn and everything in the head looks fine (cables,gears,etc.). What is in the shaft that...

Here's a schematic for your motor:
Maxxum 74 Bowmount
I suspect the the bearings and cups are damaged and binding the tubes. Have a look at key #'s95, 78, 58, 59, 78A, 79. as these are the actual brgs and cups.
Good luck on your repair!

Minnkota maxxum 70 has half the thrust is had before

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. I would take it to a authorized dealer for repair if it's still under warranty. Can get a bit tricky to repair yourself unless you're comfortable with soldering.

You need your serial number of the trolling motor, length of shaft, and thrust poundage.

or you could call Minn Kota direct and give them the same information at 800-227-6433.

Contact the people at this Email address. Minn Kota <[email protected]> The address is between the brackets. They emailed me a manual for a different trolling motor. They are nice folks. It will take up to a week for you to get a reply.

Install

Click the link below, You do need to know your serial number thrust of motor and length of shaft as well how far away from trolling motor you will install your battery. This link is on Minn Kota Motors website under FAQ you can discuss with a service rep at Minn Kota please call 800-227-6433, but you will still need the information I asked earlier to come up with the answer.

How does the minn kota 65 all terrain run on 24

You should only run the motor with a 24v battery or two 12v batters 'jumped' out. To jump the two batteries, connect the positive on one batter to the negative on the other battery and hook the trolling motor battery cables up to positive and negative terminals that are NOT jumped out as you would normally. Don't run this with 12v as you will have serious problems if you do. They do not make a 65lb thrust in 12v - too much pound thrust to run off of 12v.
