If this is ordinary residential timer, you can replace battery without changing anything.
Just replace battery.
Most timers will hold some or part of the memory during battery changeover... frequently losing no programming if battery change is done quickly, and battery was not completely depleted, and timer is still functional.
If timer function is not restored after battery change, reset timer fully and then reprogram.
If battery change and reset does not work, then timer is probably gone bad.
Most modern timers have reset button, but some require a 2-button sequence to reset.
Other modern timers have a 'battery' but the battery is built into the circuit board and thus not replaceable ... it is rechargeable, like a capacitor ... but when it fails .. the timer needs to be replaced.
Timers with replaceable batteries are generally not functional after exposure to freezing temperatures for several day, but the non-replaceable type generally have wider tolerance for temperature variation.

Google search your manufacturer make and model and the word manual. If one is available, you can find it in the search results. Follow the instructions for powering down the equipment before attempting any work on the electrical system.

what is the power source? does it work by batteries or AC or both.
If it works by batteries check the batteries to determine if they are good or bad and need changing.also check for short circuits or corrosion in the operating panel controls.Ususally it is just the batteries that need changing and the compartment holding the batteries need to be cleaned. After cleaning and changing the batteries, make sure that you dry the soluables with a paper tawell or a clean rag,After you have done this the unit should return back to nomal operation if it does not you may have a problem with the computer itself and if that 's the case you will
need to find diagnostic codes designed to troubleshoot the computer.Hopefully just the battery change and the clean up will
be sufficient to return the unit back to intact.

My Acer Laptop battery shuts down completely at 40 - 30

Go to Power Options --> On the plan you are using select change plan settings --> Change advanced power settings --> Scroll down till you reach battery and click the + next to it to expand the settings --> Where it says Critical battery level and Critical battery action (on battery) make sure that the level is at 5% and the action is to hibernate. If it's set to do nothing, it will keep running until it's out of battery and completely shut off. Plugging the AC adapter would give it more power. If that isn't the problem, check your battery's connection and consider replacing the battery.

Computer was on battery power, warning mess came on pluged in ac right after loss battery power now i get nothing. ac power light is on,but thats all

Remove the main battery from the laptop and plug the power adapter back in, if it powers up the battery needs to be replaced. It is not uncommon to see the battery load down the laptop when it becomes exhausted, if there is no change have the computer checked out.

WHEN I HAVE MY LAPTOP PLUGGED IN IT CHARGES BATTERY TO 40% THEN STOPS WHY'S THIS

Hi Tina,

Your battery needs a calibration, follow the instruction below to calibrate the battery.

  1. With Windows Vista, navigate to Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options
  2. Click "Change Plan Settings".
  3. Set all tabs to "Never" underneath "On Battery" column.
  4. Click "Change advanced power settings".
  5. Set Sleep > Hibernate after to 0 or Never.
  6. Set Battery > Critical Battery Level to 0.
  7. Click on "OK", then "Save Changes".

This is the only time that we recommend taking the battery all the way down to zero percent. Unplug the ac adapter, and let the battery drain all the way down until the laptop shuts off. Then plug the AC adapter back in, and let it recharge to 100% or where it actually reaches. You may need to repeat the cycle 2-3 times before it actually reaches 100%.

Note: After the calibration is done, change the power options settings back to what it was as they will help you save power. Also, when a power source is available dont run the laptop on battery, it will increase the battery life.

Shrey

My Gateway M-6750 laptop was working last night but today when I tried to turn it on the power button light flashes on and off and nothing else. I have unplugged it and removed the battery and held down...

Remove the main battery and the power supply charger, allow a few minutes to get rid of any residual charge. Replace the battery, press power, if there is no change, remove the battery. Now plug the power supply back into the laptop, press the power, if it starts up the battery is bad and needs to be replaced.

MY UPS IAM CONECT TO POWER. BUT IS NOT START AND POWER LIGHT ON SHOT TIME AND CONTINIVE BEEP SOUND AFTER IT CHANGE OFF.

I'm not sure but it is worth a try. Hold the power button down until the unit starts to work stably. I have tried this and it has worked before. Also make sure your printer is not attached to the battery back up.
Only your monitor and CPU should be on the Battery Back up Section. All other accessories should be on the other outlets. I have tried holding the button down on a friends, and it worked for a longer period.
It may need a new battery, or to be replaced because of the faulty switch.
Hope this helps you.
Best,
Mark

No Battery power remains connect ipod to power

Hi,
Sounds like your battery circuit is not working properly. Since you have opened it before, open it again and check to see that the little plug where you put the battery tab in is pushed down to make a good connection. Sometimes the plug connector is in the up position and needs to be gently put back down to have good contact.

You could have also messed up the battery connector when you disconnected the first battery to change it. Sometimes that happens if too much force is used. I use a pair of tweazers to just gently pull the battery tab out of its plug. I also use the tweazers to gently push it back in without moving the connector up and down.

You could also have a bad battery. Have you tried putting the old battery back in to see if that works.

Hope that helps.
