Transfering video to Mac

Hi, I am a bit slow on the video to mac transfering. I plugged my Canon ZR400 to my macbook through USB and I can't seem to get the tape part to register on my computer. MY computer recognizes the digital card but not the things that are recorded on the video tape. The computer doesn't recognize the camcorder at all when it's on the tape setting. Is there anythign I can do about this? Is my question even clear? Thanks,
Confused-

Digital video on the ZR400 is transferred to a computer only via the DV out port, which will connect to a firewire port on a PC or a Mac. USB will not transfer video, only images to and from the card.

Mac M1 Pro 2020. How to fix it, slowness issue?

Question edited for clarity and toss in some CAPS.

It is a well known issue.

If you find your Mac is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes that you can check. Your computer's startup disk may not have enough free disk space. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk or an external storage device, then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk.

I have a sony handycam dcr-pc101 ntsc and I am trying to connect it to my Mac, but the computer will not recognize the movie camera. (I have it connected through the firewire connection- not the usb port)

I'm osrry that you find difficulty in transfering the videos to the macintosh computer. Refer the URL for the infirmation on Transfering video to a Mac computer

http://support.sony-europe.com/tutorials/dime/videotransfer/vtransfer.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&sec=DV&m=DCR-PC101E

NOTE: The procedure to transfer video to a computer will vary depending on the type of camcorder you have and the type of connection you are using.

Mac G4 won't recognize Canon FS10 video output

This is only a suggestion: If you want to use the software that comes with the camera, PIXELA ImageMixer 3 SE, this needs to be installed first. Also make sure the camcorder is set on Play mode and that you have chosen which memory you want to transfer data from.
Alternatively, you can transfer the movies through iMovie, which is usually the easiest way. If you are not familiar with transfering and editing movie clips, I would recommend this.
Apart from this, as always, I referr to the user manual. Good luck!

Uploading video from Canon HG10 HD 40GB

I CAN HELP ON PARTS OF YOUR PROBLEM. FIRST, MOST CAMERAS DOWNLOAD IMAGES THAT ARE COMPATIBLE TO WINDOWS SYSTEMS, NOT MACS. FOR DOWNLOADING TO A MAC I'M AFRAID YOU'LL HAVE TO GO TO THE MAC WEBSITE. I'M A WINDOWS VISTA USER.
AS FAR AS THE HDMI PORT, THAT PORT IS AN OUTPUT PORT TO CONNECT TO A HIGH DEF. TV. YOU DO NOT WANT TO FORCE ANY CABLES INTO YOUR CAMERA ETC. CONSULT THE CANON WEBSITE FOR INFORMATION ON DOWNLOADING TO MACS. A STANDARD USB CONNECTION SHOULD BE FINE TO DOWNLOAD. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOME. SORRY I'M NOT UP ON MACS, BUT I'VE BEEN WITH WINDOWS SINCE WIN3.1 OR EARLIER. GOOD LUCK!

MacBook USB Problem

It really depends on the age and make of the usb memory stick.
As you are on a new mac it is more than likely usb 2.

Most sticks are formatted for PC usage. Macs can read PC formatted stick but PC cannot read mac. That could slow the mounting time down.

The only thing I can suggest is, if you do not need the stick to transfer data to a PC try reformatting it with the apple disk utility. If that does not sort your problem out it is more than likely a faulty stick. They are quite cheap thees days so you could simply replace it.

Uploading video to Mac

You can't transfer videos through USB. You will need a Firewire 6-pin cord and use it to connect from your MAC to the Camcorder. Only then you can transfer videos.

Transfering video to Mac

I believe that camera only works with firewire. You might want to check with Canon to see if there is compatibility problems with Macs. I know it works on Windows computers.
