Make sure the fitting are tight on the hose and gun. Also make sure that the switch for forward/reverse is solidly in one position, if it is not it will cause what you described.

Air veins stuck in the rotor will also cause this condition, as well as a broken anvil.

Leaks air around fitting on bottom of handle. nut just keeps turning. .

Sounds like you might have an issue with the air inlet assembly (item# 26) at the very top there is a o-ring that is susceptible to wear (item # 28B) but it only comes in a repair kit p/n 2315-k303.
Removal requires a special tool p/n 2131-322 to depress the inlet clip (item # 27) to be able to slide the assembly out, but two small flat blade screwdrivers could be used as a substitute.
Follow this link to the parts list.

My air ratchet does not work. Head will not turn and air comes out of breathing vents, like it seized up

I put some lubrication oil into the air line then made sure that it goes in there by moving the anvil (1/2") back and forth then tapped the lower handle making sure the oil goes everywhere. it worked on mine.

When the trigger is pulled air blows out a vent at the bottom and the anvil doesn't rotate.

If debris enter the gun, over time the vanes will not move into proper positon and react to air-flow. Vanes can become stuck if stored for long period of time. Pour small amount of diesel fuel into the gun and activate the trigger. The fuel should come out clean, if however black gunk comes out, keep adding fuel until gun is clean. Eventually all the the debris will be washed out and restore function. Good luck

I have a husky impact wrench, set at 100psi, but all that happens when i squeeze the trigger is air comes out of three vents on the bottom of the wrench, just adjacent to the imput hose. Is there something...

get some air tool oil and put it in the hose connection and manually turn the socket end by hand, the air vanes have frozen in place and can't hold the air in to operate the unit, make sure when you do this squeeze thge trigger to let the oil into the units barrel, then connect to an air supply and try it,you may need to help get it started by hand, then let it run and add some more air tool oil again to keep it lubed

Dont know where to put oil in Craftsman 1/2 " Impact wrench

I just bought one of these also. Manual says oil goes into "the air inlet" which I'm thinking is where you attach the hose. That way the oil is sprayed throughout the interior of the gun once you run air through it.
Question for you: I can't get an impact socket onto this gun, almost seems like the square hole is too small. (yes, both are 1/2" drive). How do you get a socket on this stupid thing?
(man that sounds like I'm an idiot, but I've spent a half hour leaning all my body wight, wiggling, etc. and can't get a damn socket on)

How do you undo the crank shaft bottom pulley on a bmw 320 cd coupe. cant undo the bolt any suggestions been trying for 2 days! help

Hi there,

There are times when there is no substitute for air tools, specifically an impact gun and sockets.

However, chances are you won't be able to get one down in there, so this might not be one of those times. Breaker bar with a pipe over the handle for added leverage.

Treating it with penetrating oil can't hurt either

Good luck

Air Wrench Question

An impact wrench works in the manner suggested by the name of the tool: through the principle of impact. In order to understand how an electrical or air-powered impact wrench works, it helps to know first how a manually powered impact wrench operates. A manually powered impact wrench looks like a fat screwdriver; on the end where the screwdriver blade normally goes, you can snap on screwdriver bits or sockets.

Wrench question

An air-powered impact wrench runs off of an air compressor with a tank – the air compressor should have at least a 10 gallon tank and be able to generate at least 3hp. Also, an impact wrench requires special sockets that are designed to withstand the high torque applied by the wrench.
