1. If the machine motor is running you can see if the bobbin winder is functioning. If so then you need to tighten the hand wheel lock.
2. If it doesn't work try loosening the screw on the hand wheel lock. 3. Try to tighten the wheel lock now.
4. Now, tighten the screw.
5. If it still isn't functioning you may need to loosen the motor and replace the belt.
6. Belt. Remove old belt. Put new one on while motor is loose. Tighten the motor while you keep the machine running at a slow speed. As you tighten the motor there will be a point the motor speed rises the most. Tighten the motor there and recheck afterwards.

The bobbin is not catching

1. Make sure your needle is the correct size for the machine.
2. Make sure your needle isn't damaged, bent or blunted.
3. Make sure your needle is fully inserted in the needle bar.

If that doesn't help check the timing. The point of the hook should arrive at the scarf of needle when the needle reaches it's down-most point. If it is ahead or well behind, your timing is out.

Here's a visual on the parts of the needle.

The motor is running but the needle doesn't go up and down

if your foot pedal is connected correctly,, it's possible that a part in the machine
is damaged,,it would be a good idea to have the machine serviced to see
what the problem is for sure.

Pfaff select 1540 bobbin thread jam

if there is a thread in the hook area try taking a pair of needle nose
pliers to try & get the thread out, if that doesn't work then you might
think about taking the machine to a sewing machine shop to have the
machine checked since the needle will not go up & down & handwheel
won't move

How do I change the needle on my overlocker

TURN OFF POWER! UNPLUG FROM WALL OUTLET! HOLD needle so it doesn't slip down into needle hole and turn screw towards you to loosen it. You must raise presser foot and push new needle UP flat side BACK as far up a's that needle will go! Tighten screw. Needle on left side same length a's one on right but will just appear to be higher then the one on right. Not to worry! It's supposed to look this way when needles correctly positioned! Jimmy

How to change a needle

Remove screw at the bottom of the needle bar while holding needle carefully so it doesn't drop down into your sewing machine.
Push new needle all the way up until it won't go any farther and make sure the flat side is in back, the rounded side should be facing you.
Tighten screw securely. That's all there is to it!
Hope this helps.

The bobben is not catching when i lower the needle down

Check to see that you have the right size needle in the machine. Rethread the machine, both top and bottom. If that doesn't help you may have a timing issue.
