Jimmy, there are only a few reasons why your system is freezing up. I'll go down the list and you can double check to see if one or more of these might be the issue. 1) Do you have enough space on your Hard Drive (HDD) 2) Good internet connection. 3)Corrupt files/incorrect file name uploading from USB stick. 4) Are you running a "Jail Broken" PS3? One or more of these could cause your system to refuse rebuilding the files. You may have to restore the system to factory settings and install the latest firmware. Good luck, hope this helps.

Sounds like a problem with your blu-ray drive.

Try playing a blu-ray movie and a dvd.

Let me know what happens and we'll go from there.

My ps3 wont load and its just stuck on the main screen with 2 two loading symboles under the ps network and loads the settings but freezes when i click on the settings please help me

Hello,

You can try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your Ps3.

Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as
well as cookies.

You could also try this as well: put the PS3 on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS3 off at the back with your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

But if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony for further assistance.

I wish you good luck

Hi my playstation keeps freezing and everytime i follow the instructions on the playstation it freezes again. it now wont start correctly. Could you help me please ?

Hello,

Hello

your PS3 is freezing simply because your console is affected by heat, so you have to cool it down. If the freezing continues even after cooling down, you can follow the steps below:

To stop the PS3 from Freezing, you could begin by putting off your console and wait for 20 minutes. After that, put it back on. Check if there's any loose cables. If there is, put them back in.

If the problem still persist, try the below steps,

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.

try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol

to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.

ps3 standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.

my ps3 goes like this

ps3 standby mode...press hold power button......."beep"......"beep"........standby again..release then hold real fast........."beep".........."double beep beep"....release and there are the options to rebuild database and filesystem. database and file system wont delete saveed files. i have some other tricks so let me know but try this first.

Wont load!

Try going in to the playstation diagnostic menu. This is accessible as follows:

Make sure you have the controller charger cable plugged in and your controller plugged in before you start. While the PS3 is off press and hold the power button, the PS3 will start, beep 3 times and then turn off again. Once it's switched off take your finger off the power button for a second or two then put it back on, listening out for two beeps, then remove it. On the screen it will ask you to plug your controller in and press the PS button, do so and you'll be presented with 6 options.

The first one you want to try is restore file system, this will check your PS3 for any errors on the hard drive, and correct them if they can. This may take a little while but let it run through and see if it works.

If not then move on to the next option, but BACK UP YOUR DATA BEFORE DOING SO, the next step will wipe your PS3 clean! Repeat the process above until you get to the menu and then select "Rebuild database".

Try these two first and let me know if it helps! :)

PS3 games play but DVD/Blu-ray will not

Sounds like a bad laser, but you should restore the PS3 back to Factory to see what happens.

If you get the same results it's definitely the laser.

Ps3 wont load games up

I had a similar problem. My PS3 did not start the disk based games. Those disk based games were not visible in the game menu. I did not have problems with the normal movie DVDs or Movie Blu Rays. Those were working fine. Also downloaded games were working ok.

In case you have the similar problem, you should try the following steps;

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way;:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.

• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

Select option "Rebuild Database".

After PS3 has executed the DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu and are starting automatically when inserted to PS3.
