Unplug machine. Remove back panel. loosen three nuts holding motor clutch assembley from bottom side of motor mounting plate with deep well socket, allowing motor mounting plate to slide. Remove clamp holding flexible drive coupler just above belt. Remove belt. Reverse to install, but remember to give a little tension to the belt by holding motor toward the back left corner while tightening up nuts. Tighten the nut closest to the center of the machine first.

The machine fills with water but the drum wont turn. the machine drains the water until the next cycle, but the drum still wont turn

Tony could you give me a little more info? Is this a machine you just got or one that's been running just fine till now? Is it a top loading machine or a front loading machine? Because if this is a top loading GE for example i'd say, see if the agitator spins freely in both directions if it is and if it does i'd give you some instructions on an easy repair. However if you said it's a whirlpool top loader i could probably give you a link to a youtube vid that'll show you step by step how to fix it. Etc. Etc. Thanks.

GE top loading washer does not spin out water

The belt could be broken, if not. Unplug washer for 2 minutes, plug back in, open and close lid 7 times, this should reset electronic motor.

Ge washer

Pull up sharply on the agitator to remove it from the shaft. Check the agitator mounting cup underneath it is probably stripped out. It is a replaceable part.
If the agitator is difficult to pull up,use a old strong leather belt under the agitator and pull it off using the belt.

Changing the belt on a GE front loading washer

Hello , i can try to help , I have always got these belts on by starting the belt on the small pulley/motor , then rolling it on the large pulley , kinda like putting a bike chain on. Let me know if you have any other questions and how it turns out.
