On the E900 router, after a factory reset, the IP will be 192.168.1.1, with a default password of "admin" and no username.

Are you using wifi ?

Google-search "reset Linksys e900" to restore it to "factory" settings, including the original ID/password. Then, start over to setup/configure your router, including setting a new password.

Both devices have a DHCP router built into them so on the second router the E900 you need to log into the administration page and disable DHCP. You may also need to hardcode the ip address of the E900 to an IP address in the range that the 4620 uses.

You will probably have to name the E900 wireless name to be the same as your wireless hotspot name so your devices will switch between the 2 depending on the one with the best signal.

I am guessing you are using the E900 as a wireless extender in another part of your house so you have good coverage.

Use LAN cable and connect it to your laptop, the other side to one of the LAN ports in router

this is because your wireless router is a router, and your linksys is also a router. Both are attempting to do routing, and they're colliding with each other.

Go into your linksys router's settings, and set it's IP address to have the SAME subnet mask as your wireless router, (The third number in the ip address has to be the same)

e.g. if your wireless router is 192.168.0.1, make sure your linksys is 192.168.0.2
if your wireless router is 192.168.2.1, make sure your linksys is 192.168.2.2

After that, turn OFF the dhcp server on your linksys router (do this in the linksys config page).

After that, plug the LAN port of your linksys to the LAN port of your wireless router.

Your linksys will now be acting like a "Switch" which is an extension of your network. Voila!
