My Laptop does not turn on anymore... When i insert the ac adapter a the power light flash instantly and gone... but my laptop doesnt charge or turn on...:( i have tried replacing the adapter but nothing happens..

Already answered today - take battery out and try.

When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

I see you are having issues with you G550 charging.

You mentioned that the light on the charger is lit up but then it suddenly switches Off, and you also mentioned that the charge still has a light but the power is somewhat low despite of a fully lit up charger Light.

Have you tried draining the power from the system?

• Remove the battery and the Charger or AC Adapter as well call it from the G550 then press and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds to drain power from the system motherboard.
• Once drained connect the AC adapter but do not connect the battery yet, then turn the Laptop ON to see if the system will power ON using the AC adapter/Charger if it powers up then there is no problem with the AC adapter/charger.
• After testing the AC adapter if it is working power down the Laptop doing a normal shut down.
• Once shut down or turned Off insert the Battery back in the Laptop then turn the Laptop ON using the battery only without the AC adapter/charger see if the system will turn ON using the Battery only.
• If the Laptop powers On using the battery alone with out the AC adapter then the battery is most likely working as well on the issue.
• Now power down the Laptop then connect the AC adapter to the Laptop with the Battery in the Laptop as well then turn the system ON again see if the problem will Occur again having the battery and the AC adapter/charger if the Problem happens with both Battery and AC adapter on the Laptop then the problem is the Motherboard, most probably the motherboard is having issues relaying power from the AC adapter to the battery and may be sent to the Depot for repairs.
  

I suggest that you call Lenovo for further information about your system, if you still have warranty and is still in the one year period then your system will be covered for any repairs needed - you can call @ 1 877 453 6686 for troubleshooting, you will be asked for a serial number Located underneath the Laptop on a small white sticker that states s/n meaning serial number.

That means that the AC adapter is dead and the battery is out of charge.

I have the same problem and the power indicator blinks while the battery indicator lights red

TRy to remove the battery, then power the laptop on with only the ac power adapter inserted. if it powers, then your adapter is ok, and insert battery while its on, battery charging should start. otherwise, you could be having a problem with your charging system.

yes,if the battery doesn't charge with the ac adapter or turn on with it pluged in.it is common on comuters for the power adapter on the motherboard to go bad after a while.downfall of the laptop is that it is very hard to replace it(desktop easy because it is not built into the motherboard)you can either buy a new motherboard or a new laptop.if you got any more questions feel free to email me at [email protected]

This seems to be a issue with the AC adapter. Its not driving enough power to the laptop and neither charging the laptops battery. Try using a different adapter.

If the problem still exists, Then its to do with the internal power supply setup inside the laptop and probably you need to rip the laptop apart and check the power chipset.

Try this: - remove AC adapter plug - remove the battery - insert the battery again. - try power up the laptop.
I have same problem, but this trick always work, and I always do this every power up. :)
However, I am using a usb optical mouse for an indicator. When inserting the battery, I check the light on the mouse. If it is flashing the second I insert the battery, then the power up will be successful. IF it is not, then remove and insert the battery again.
Try it.

Usually what happens is that the ac connector on the laptop get loose. It happens when you wiggle the ac adapter out rather than pulling it/pushing it straight in. You can check if this is the problemsby
powering off the laptop. Insert the ac adapter. just slightly wiglle it. if it wiggles at all, then this is the problem. It can be fixed by resoldering the connector back on the System board, which entails taking the laptop completely apart.
