I suggest that you start by contacting Nikon support at www.nikon.com to discuss the problem with them.

Then I suggest that you contact an authorized Nikon repair center for an estimate on the cost of repairs. Some repair centers charge a flat rate which covers any repairable damage including replacement of the camera circuit board.

The last time I had a camera repaired (an Olympus) it cost me a flat rate fee of $150. That was about three years ago.

While the Nikon 3100 is not Nikon's most expensive model, it's still worth checking out and getting repair estimates. The only cost for the inquiry is time.

Also, remember that you will have to pay postage to ship the camera to the repair center though most of them will pay the shipping to return it to you. Ship only the camera body...no lenses, cords, cards, etc. Good luck.

Oops. that hurts. But I'm afraid it won't be worth repairing this one. I already saw the body been sold for less than 300 euro new. And I think the repair centre will ask more for opening and closing this one. Then you still have a used body.
Start saving or perhaps you have an insurance that will pay a new one for you?

Too much brightness when using s6800

I do not know the S6800 model specifically however, nikon cameras all generally work in the same way. Somewhere on your camera, probably a button or in the menus, there is an exposure compensation setting. The symbol Nikon uses for the button is a "+/-" enclosed in a circle (often half black on white/white on black printing). Press the button and you will either see a zero, a positive or negative number or a a scale with zero in the center with positive numbers to the right and negative numbers to the left.
If the exposure compensation is not at zero, set it to zero. Your exposures should now be correct. If it is already at zero, set it to a negative number to reduce exposure and darken the picture and to a positive number to increase exposure and lighten the picture. Let me know if this solved your problem.

My pentax K10D won't turn on? When I try to turn it on it just displays F-- on the display?? We haven't dropped it or anything it just wouldn't work one day!?

What happens when you try to change the exposure mode by turning the exposure dial? Try setting it to the green AUTO mode. Any change?

Exposure Compensation (-2.0EV to +2.0EV in 1/3EV increments) whats best for cybershot p71

That depends on the current situation. The exposure compensation merely subtracts or adds exposure to the "best" setting as determined by the camera's meter. The camera works on the assumption that your subject is composed of "middle gray" tones.

For a backlit subject, for example, you might want to add some exposure to bring out details in the subject at the expense of blowing out the highlights in the background. If you're taking a picture of a black cat sitting on black asphalt, you'd probably want to subtract exposure so you don't get a gray cat on a gray background. If you have a white dog in the snow, you'd want to add exposure so you don't get a gray dog on a gray background.

Again, there is no such thing as a "best" setting. There is only a "best" setting for a particular picture-taking situation, and even then the setting depends on your artistic inclinations.

I dropped my casio ex-s10, but it was in a hard case.ever since then, when i turn it on the screen is black and so i cannot see the pictures on the screen.what can i do?

Hi,

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to Casio service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

My son dropped it and the flash no longer works. Pictures still look great outside but all inside pictures are super dark. How easily is the flash replaced and what is an estimated cost so I can plan to...

Contact kodak if you want an estimate for repairs.

If your camera can change the exposure, exposure settings. You could just change it so your camera can absorb more light in dark places.

Constant under exposure.....

I can tell you what your problem is. You dropped it on concrete and you are suffering from impact damage. You have a whole bunch of internal damage to your camera, Don't worry, like anything, it can be fixed. Because it was dropped, its not covered under warranty. I have a friend who can fix it for you.
