A4 refers to a paper size, so its asking for that size of paper to be loaded.

Please give me detail instructions, step by step because not very computer literate to solve printer problem. Flashing green "PC Load A4" causing printer not to print. Thanks CK

What this means is that the print job you sent to the printer is formatted for and designated as being ready for printing on A4-sized paper, which is a European size that is 210 millimeters wide by 297 millimeters tall. This is close to what Americans will refer to as letter size as that standard is 8.5 inches by 11 inches while A4 is 8.27 by 11.7. If you have standard letter-size paper loaded into the printer and you want to print on such paper, then you need to go into whatever program you are using to write the document (for example, Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, etc.) and set the option in the Print... dialog window to print on Letter rather than A4. You also need to cancel the print job currently in the printer. This is done by holding the Shift key on the top of the printer and pressing the button that says "Reset" underneath it in purplish-red. This will flush the memory of the printer and make it ready for the next print job. As it's been a few years since I last worked on one of these printers, I cannot remember if you also need to hit the Online button first (so that it is offline, indicated by the light being turned off on said button) before you can reset the printer but if so, then just hit that button, reset the printer, and then hit the Online button again to bring it online.

This should take care of the problem for you. If you have any other questions about this issue or other concerns about your Laserjet 4 series printer, feel free to drop me an email. You can find me at Best Deal Computers as I am the owner. :-)

Load mp feader a4

Please determine what size you are trying to print (A4, Letter, Legal, etc.). The printer is requesting A4 sized paper in the maunal paper feeder becuase either you selected manual feed or the setting for the default try (usually tray 1) is not set to the correct paper size. In your case, make sure the green slide adjustment on tray 1 is set to A4.

Why doesn't paper feed after "print" instruction? Printer merely makes a mechanical noise and states "paper out" condition.

Hello.

There are lots of reasons why this would happen:

Foreign object (could be very tiny)

Any power lights flashing ?

Paper feed rollers may need cleaning - try (from Canon Support):

1. Ensure that the printer is turned on. If any paper is loaded in the printer, remove it.

2. Select which roller to clean, the auto sheet feeder's or cassette's, by pressing the <Paper Feed> switch on the printer.

3. Hold down the <Resume/Cancel> button; when the Power lamp flashes green three times, release the button. The paper feed roller will rotate as it cleans itself.

4.. Repeat step 3 twice.

5. Load three or more of A4 or letter sized plain paper in the auto sheet feeder or cassette, as selected in step 2.

6. Repeat step 3. The paper that is loaded in the printer will be fed through the printer and ejected.

7. If printing problems persist, repeat step 6 up to three times.

Could be a hardware error and the printer would need servicing - still under warranty ?? If so, return to Canon for repair or replacement.

Hope this helps.

Not good colour consistency over an A4 page

I suggest you find a way to align the cartridge. If it contains alignment utility it should give you a better printout. Also check if you have enough ink on your cartridge. Uneven colour usually is due to lack of ink in the cartridge.

Clear the Print Que in the PC, turn off and unplug the machine, turn it back on.. send a test print from the driver.
A4 is european paper size, your printer is set for letter, someone attmepted to print an A4 file. Which is in the page set up in what ever file was to be printed.

WHEN PRINTING PHOTOS LINES APPEAR

Hi, It is unfortunate that you are having this difficulty with your printer. One of the best solution that we can give to you is run a series of head cleaning. Please try the following steps below to clean the print head in most effective way:

1) Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing. Make sure there are no error lights or messages appearing in the LCD.
NOTE: You cannot clean the print head if the any of the cartridges are expended. Replace the appropriate ink cartridge before proceeding.
2) Load letter size paper.
3) Click on START.

For Windows 95/98/ME: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PROPERTIES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.
For Windows 2000: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.
For Windows XP: Click CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES. RIGHT-CLICK your EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. If this icon is not showing, select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS. Then RIGHT-CLICK the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.
For Windows Vista: Click CONTROL PANEL, HARDWARE AND SOUND then PRINTERS. Note: these steps may vary depending on how Vista is setup. RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

4) Click on the UTILITY or MAINTENANCE tab, then click on HEAD CLEANING.
5) Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which time the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing, unless the printer has not moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.
6) When the power light stops flashing click PRINT NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN and then click NEXT.
7) If the nozzle check pattern has no gaps in its lines, click FINISH. If the pattern has any gaps, click CLEAN to clean the printhead again.
8) If the situation continues after three cleaning cycles and nozzle checks, replace one of the affected ink cartridge(s).
9) Once the cartridge(s) has been replaced, please follow steps one through seven up to three times.

If the nozzle check still has gaps after you have run at least 3 consecutive cleaning cycles and replaced the affected ink, your printer will require service.
