Washer will not run or complete a diagnostic.

This is an HE2 Plus model. We ran one load. All was normal until the end. Cycle stopped with one minute on the display and the door still locked. Had to manually release the door lock to get it open. Now when I try to start a cycle, the door locks and then nothing happens. If I press STOP twice or press POWER, the Add a Garment light starts flashing and the door remains locked. I can do nothing with it at this point except pull the power cord. When I run a diagnostic, all the indicators turn on but there are no error codes. When the diagnostic cycle starts, the CLEAN light turns on and the door locks. Then nothing happens after that. Again, all I can do at this point is pull the power cord. Any ideas what the problem could be? I should also add that I opened the pump filter and found it full of pocket change and a few other odds and ends. Cleaned it out. The pump appears to spin freely, so I put it back together.

Chris, thank you for the prompt reply but to be honest, it does not help. I have already done that several times. The problem is in step 4. When the automatic diagnostic test mode begins, the door locks and the CLEAN light turns on. That is the first step in the test cycle. Nothing else happens. It does not progress any farther than that.

1. The washing machine needs to be plugged in and in stand by mode with all indicators off.
2. Choose any one button on the washer's console except Power, Start, or Stop. Press/Hold 3 Seconds - Release 3 Seconds - Press/Hold 3 Seconds - Release 3 Seconds - Press/Hold 3 Seconds.
3. If the diagnostic test mode has been successfully entered, all of the indicator lights will glow for five seconds with 88 on the time display. (If it didn't work try #2 again One one thousand...Two one thousand...Three one thousand)
4. If there are any saved fault codes they will be displayed. If there are no save fault codes all indicator lights will turn off for a moment then back on with 88 displayed and the automatic diagnostic test mode will begin in five seconds.
5. If you are unable to enter the diagnostic test mode, press the power button and verify that the button you were trying to use operates properly to program the washer's cycle function. There may be something wrong with that function button. Find another button on the control that appears to work and try to enter the diagnostic mode with that button. You may also want to verify that the user interface has a good connection to the washing machine control board at the P11 terminal.

Note: Pressing the STOP or POWER button at any time to exit the washing machine's diagnostic mode.

Kenmore he2 plus stops during wash cycle

What is the maximum capacity (laundry weight load) of your washer? And how much weight do you consider a large load, that you are placing in the washer?

My washer stops in the middle of the cycle and displays F-1 and after I have to set it on the rinse / drain cycle to complete. Today for the first time it also displayed 5d at the end of the cycle.

5d or Sd means too much detergent was used. Try the following

Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle.
Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any detergent.

This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.

HE2 Plus blinks F-11

Look for the technical brochure. Mine was on the lower kick panel taped inside. I would not take off the back panel first. Maybe the top or the lower front if it is a front loader. It tells you how to do diagnostics and what the codes mean.

Kenmore HE2 won't finish spin cycle

you have blockage in you drain plug. to solve this problem you'll have to remove the lower front panel of your machine by removing the 3 (1/4") screws on the vary bottom of the machine. once the panel is removed you'll see a 1 1/2" white PVC drainage plug. turn the inner plug to the left in till open. (WARNING ALL THE WATER IN THE DRUM WILL DRAIN THOUGH THIS PLUG) remove debris likes socks or everything that's there replace the panel and your all set.
