Hello Santiago;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

In the defrost mode everything shuts down with the exception of the light.

So, lets trip the defrost timer and get your freezer running.

You did not provide a model number which is located on a label on the inside liner wall near the top.

Your defrost timer may be part of your control board.

Let's assume it is not.

In the lower back left hand corner of you unit the is a metal plate with a small slotted shaft. With a large flat head screw driver turn the shaft clockwise on click at a time until your unit starts up. You must do the same thing every 12 hours to turn it off for 30 minutes to allow for defrost until the timer is replaced is replaced.

Go into the following web site, put in your model number. Select the diagram with the defrost timer. Search the internet with the part number shown

Why mu refrigerator rrtg21pabb ia working but not freeze

If the refrigerator is not defrosting, the defrost control board might be defective. The defrost control board monitors several conditions and determines how often to run the defrost cycle. If the board fails, the refrigerator will not go into the defrost cycle. Eventually, ice will build up on the evaporator coil and then the refrigerator and or freezer will not stay cold enough. This will depend on where the evaporator is located. It's prudent to check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity before replacing the defrost control board.

If that is not the problem then the coil might have a hole in it and needs repair and coolent rechrge.

We have a Kenmore Elite Freezer Model #253.29082994. We had the freezer plugged in and it was working fine. We unplugged it and moved it and now when we plug it in it won't start. Is there some kind of...

You refrigerator was made by Frigidaire Adaptive Defrost Controls Frigidaire Refrigerator Trouble Shooting and Diagnosing
On the initial plugin, or when power is restored to the fridge after a power outage:
If terminating thermostat is open, the fridge enters a compressor (cooling) cycle.
If the terminating thermostat is closed, the first defrost cycle occurs 1 hour
after initial plug-in.
Maximum defrost cycle time is 24 minutes.
Minimum time between defrost cycles is 6 hours. (compressor runtime)
Maximum normal clock time between defrost cycles is 12 hours.
Maximum time between defrost cycles (in "vacation" mode) is 72 hours.
Vacation mode is not entered unless the door has not been opened in at least 24 hours.
Note that the ADC will only enter the defrost mode if the terminating thermostat is closed. If the terminating thermostat is open when defrost is initiated, the ADC board will wait for six minutes and then return to the cooling mode.
ASSUMING that the fridge has been on and running,
and the terminating thermostat is closed,
defrost is initiated by pressing the door (light) switch
at least five times within six seconds.
The defrost heater should start heating up within 8 seconds.
If the above procedure caused the heater to heat up, the ADC board is probably bad; replace it.
If the defrost heater does not heat up, test the defrost heater, terminating thermostat and cold control for continuity as follows:
Unplug the fridge from the wall. Unplug the ADC board from its connector.
Test the connector for continuity between the following leads:
Defrost Heater = DEF TERM (blue) to DEF OUT (brown).
Terminating Thermostat = DEF TERM (blue) to NEUTRAL (lt blue).
Cold Control = COLD CONTROL (orange) to L1 (black).
Replace the defective component.

Freezer does not go into defrost cycle

first, check defrost timer function, then check heater functions. Is power making it to the heaters? Does the heater have continuity? How long, if at all, does it stay in defrost? Some unit have a defrost terminator, and, when it fails, it will go in and out of defrost instantly.,. Start there my friend.

True 49f goes into defrost mode the contact opens for the compressor but the compressor keeps running

in many cases, these units have relays or contactors where the contact points actually weld together. this causes the unit to stay running even though power to the coil has been stopped. I'd start looking there first. don't over look the possibility that someone could have mistakenly miswired the unit.

Fost accumilating inside

There are three components that control the automatic defrost cycle.

#1 is the defrost timer, this is a simple clock and set of contacts that switch from cooling mode to defrost mode every 8 to 10 hours. The timer knob can be turned clockwise slowly until a positive 'click' is felt, this is the defrost mode. Let it sit there for about 10 minutes and you should hear the hiss or sizzle, if not then we go a bit deeper.

#2 defrost heater, this heater is located on the bottom of the cooling coils behind the back panel in the freezer, it will run long enough to remove the frost from the evaporator coils and turn off by the defrost terminator or no longer than 25 minutes maximum

#3 defrost terminator or thermostat or bi metal, 3 names same part. This is clipped on to the evaporator coils near the top and senses the temperature, it is there so the defrost cycle does not run too long.

True freezer model TS49f-RC. Evaporator fans will not run. Defrost timer will not stay in defrost when manually turned to defrost. Believe defrost termination switch is bad. ?

You are most likely correct. Most manufacturers of freezers have fan delay/defrost terminators. But keep in mind that if the box is hot, it will not stay in defrost as that is what the terminator is designed to do. Does the unit ever get cold? You may have a refrigeration problem and the terminator is good. If you can give some additional info, I'll be glad to keep assisting you to get it going.

My Whirlpool upright freezer keeps building up ice inside the bottom back wall. The fan starts rattling and freezer will not stay cold enough to make ice. If I take everything all out and leave it off...

Either your defrost timer, defrost heater or defrost thermostat has failed. All parts are located behind the lower back panel inside the freezer. Most likely are the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.
