Microwave went dead, checked and replaced the high voltage diode. As soon as I turned it on again it blew the diode again (diode opened ). Is this a bad magnetron?
If you do not have any experience in the repair of microwave ovens do not engage in their repairs because it is one of the most dangerous household appliances and the consequences can be disastrous. According to your description, low voltage circuit (220V or 110V) works well (light, turntable...). Obviously the problem is in a high voltage (HV) circuit which is made up of the magnetron, HV diode (rectifier), HV capacitor and HV fuse or protect diode. Failure is in any of these components in "HV circuit" or sometimes in interlock switch assembly or PC Board.
First, you must be sure which diode is blowed, reactifier or protect diode.
To check magnetron following this procedure:
Discconect the mains supply.
Check that the capacitor is discharged (by resistor 100 ohm / 10W or more).
Discconect the magnetron.
Measure the resistence between the disconnected terminals (should be app. 0.5 ohm).
Measure the resistance between the supply terminals (both) and earth. The resistance should be infinite.

SOURCE: Stuck Microwave door
The button assembly or the arm thats attached to the push button is broken. With the unit unplugged. Carfully take off the screws from the sides and around the back of the unit around the outside of the cover. Now once apart, DO NOT TOUCH any electrical parts. Look at the mechanism and see if you can see why the buttons not activating an arm to trigger the door latch. If you think you see why, Go to http://www.repairclinic.com and enter your model #.. Answer the questions and then a bunch of parts will come up. If they dont then get the tele # from there and call them. Depending on how old the oven is, you may want to consider a newer oven??. Good luck

SOURCE: Replacing a whirlpool microwave door handle! got
To replace the door handle you need to access the door handle screws. On MOST microwave ovens, you just have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. This can be easily be accomplished by using a small screwdriver or putty knife and carefully insert along the seam of the inner panel and pry the plastic up. Work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass to pop the panel loose. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that shields you from harmful RF radiation.
With the inner panel removed, the door handle screws are visibile and can easily be accessed with a screwdriver. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel, gradually working your way around the perimeter of the door glass to ensure it snaps back into place and seats properly.
This repair can be done with the door in place, or you can remove it for easier access. If you decide the remove the door, open it all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. The door will lift off of the hinge pins. On some microwaves, you may have to remove the upper grill cover over the door (if equipped) to accommodate door removal. Place on a hard flat surface with some towels under it for padding. This protects the door facing from scatches.
NOTE: Some doors have a hinge pin that needs to be removed, or screws holding the door in place at the hinge.
You can view an exploded view diagram of your microwave at pcappliancerepair.com for reference. Just type in your model number and locate the parts listing for the door. If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
