I have a T40 IBM that just got the 1802 error. downloaded a bootable fix that I made to a CD. Set both startup and network to look for the CD drive first. Cannot get past the double beep on the POST test...

Hello,

To correct this issue, you will need to remove the PCI wireless card from your laptop or disable the mini PCI settings in the BIOS menu.

On IBM's, the Mini PCI card slot is usually at the back of computer.

After removing card or disabling the
mini PCI settings in the BIOS menu, boot your computer. Make sure to update your BIOS. The new BIOS version can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

This issue has been corrected in the latests BIOS updates released.

After updating the BIOS, you can reseat the PCI Wireless card or enable the mini PCI settings in the BIOS menu.

Note that once you have removed the wireless card, you will not have wireless connection until you update the bios and replace it.

Hope this helps.

I turn my Acer on and nothing happens. The light

Try this it worked for me

Updating the BIOS will require a USB flash drive to store the BIOS information on during the update. To perform the update to the BIOS:
  1. Go here and download the latest BIOS for the netbook.
  2. Extract the files from the downloaded zipped BIOS file.
  3. In the Dos_Flash folder, rename the BIOS file from 3310.fd to ZG5IA32.FD, in all capital letters.
  4. Copy ZG5IA32.FD and Flashit.exe to the USB flash drive
  5. Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged in.
  6. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
  7. Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together and press the power button.
  8. When the unit's power light comes on wait a few seconds and release the Fn and Esc keys.
  9. After the keys have been released the power light will start to blink.
  10. During the BIOS update process the display will be blank.
  11. Let the unit run and after approximately 1 to 7 minutes, the unit should reboot and the BIOS will be updated.
If the unit fails to reboot, or the BIOS was not updated sucessfully, try the steps again. If the unit continues to fail to reboot, the unit may need service.
Note: These instructions are only for the Acer Aspire One AOA-110 and the AOA-150 netbook series and should not be performed on any other model Acer Aspire One.

I dont have any sound on my laptop

First check to make sure the sound has not been muted. If not then make sure it is turned up and try different music types, like a cd then play a .wav and .mp3 file. Nothing still, check and make sure drivers are installed and if there is an updated driver available. Make sure that it is not disabled in the BIOS. If not then check and see if you have an update for the BIOS.
If all else fails call the manufacture for warranty information.

Pc hang up at f2 after bios update

Try downgrading the BIOS to a previous version then load setup defaults. After that update it again with the latest BIOS version. If it does the same thing then the bios package that you downloaded could be corrupt, you may need to download it from a different location.

What is the model of your intel motherboard?

Thanks

I updated BIOs and now every thing is gone.

Okay, sounds like your BIOS upgrade went south. First off, re-install the original BIOS. Usually you back up the original before upgrading. Either that, or d/l the original BIOS from emachines.com. Once you've got the BIOS working, try starting the system. I'll need to know more to help you from there.
