Cannot install Canon PIXMA MP190 printer

My computer (Windows XP SP3) is not recognizing my Canon PIXMA MP190 printer. When I plug in the usb to atach it to the computer nothing happen's.
I lost install CD for printer so I've installed drivers manually, add new printer but cannot setup (select) usb port for that printer (usb is not in the list of available ports in the printer properties page).
I must add one port?
Is the printer port damaged?
Thank you!

Hello and Welcome to FixYa,

The software driver for your Canon MP190 can be found here :

Canon Drivers

I just would like to add some few reminders before you even start downloading the installation files :
  • Make sure that there are no other applications running
  • Ensure that all external USB storage drives are disconnected from the computer
  • Printer should be connected and turned on
When you click on the link, be sure to select the correct operating system running in your PC to avoid further issues :

After completing download, you can begin installation by going to the folder where the files got downloaded. I strongly recommend to restart your PC after the drivers installation.

Hope this helps, and Thank you for using FixYa.

Windows XP SP3 will not recognize the printer is connected.

It could be the cable, but most likly it is a damaged driver. try uninstalling the printer and all the drivers then reboot and resinstall it. You could also run "sfc /scannow" to see if any system files are damaged.
