How to lift up glass top for heating element replacement.

I would like to replace one of the heating element under the glass top. I can not figure out how to lift up the glass top in order to lift it and expose the heating element so that I can replace it. Please let me know which screws need to be removed (if any) or any tabs needs to be pushed in in order to lift up the glass top. Thank you.

Most of these units have a few screws underneath the top at the front lip where the top of the door closes. Remove the screws and you should be able to lift the top up. Most of them also have a metal bar you pull down or up depending on the make and model on the side to hold the top up once you open it

Testimonial: "unlike most units, this unit has controls in the front (not at the back) I wonder whether the control unit has to be taken off in order to lift up the top."

Broken or belt has come off. If can open back and fix or replace. You may need to remove the top. Careful of the heat element, lift out drum and place new belt on motor holding it while you put the drum back keep hold of belt and place around drum replace top and should be ok. Hope this Helps

Broken Glass on Cooktop

Ouch. The glass top does have to be replaced but I just ran the partial model number on your range and if you're at the comp. I hope you are sitting down. Replacing it not bad. Purchasing tho is rediculous. Retail suggested price just for the top is 600.00. Rediculous pricing but GE is like that sometimes. Sorry but repairing the glass is not possible and getting it from a glass shop isn't either. Sorry for the not so good news. Rick

How to remove top of GE JBP95T0F1WW to replace heating element? I purchased a replacement heating element, but can't figure out how to get the top off of the stove.

If you are talking about the surface element it just slides out. You can lift the stovetop straight up by pulling up on the front of the top. if you need to replace the connector which has a sheet metal bolt

Baking element

oh bleep, right? well, if you're lucky this will get you going again. 1. disconnect power to range. 2. remove back metal cover just above range power cord (usually 5 quarter inch hex screws) 3. look for burnt off wire leading to/from bake element. If yes, 4. strip ends of broken wire and splice with ceramic wire nut if no 4. bad news. replace ERC (electronic range control) you fried something on the board. It's got the clock display and all the electronics behind it.

Hot surface indicator

The component that controls the hot surface light is part of the element. If there is a light for each element you just replace that element. If there's one for the whole surface or each side you'll have to figure out which element is causing the problem.

One of my burners is out, and I do not know how to get under the cooktop

You can check the element from the switch on the control panel. Unplug the oven, remove the back and put an ohm meter on r1 and r2 terminals to check resistance. If it shows open then the element is bad. If it shows resistance then replace the switch. To remove the top there should be screws under the front part of the top which you can see when you lower the door then just lift up. You won't be removing just the glass.
