Shine a flashlight onto the picture when you have audio.

If you can see the picture using the flashlight then you have a backlight problem.

Try reseating the plugs on the circuit boards inside. It can clear up many problems like yours.

My Westinghouse SK-32H540S TV comes on for about 5-10 seconds, then the picture goes off. The sound continues.

You need to replaced your Inverter Board, If you can do the job, get the Board Part number and order it from Westinghouse. If not call a Professional TV Technician. At least you have an idea what's the trouble with your set. Hope this Tip will help you. Thanks

Turn set on picture for a few seconds then it

Check to see if you are getting 12vdc feeding the T-CON board. the gray glowing means the backlight is working.

I have a westinghouse tv model number SK-32H240S no picture

It seems that your unit has some sort of Video side, PSU fault, or a problem to the Video section that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Picture goes off sound stays on

Hi

Yes the problem has been solved. finally. The information on your web site was correct but the replacement board that I needed was no longer available. I ended up taking it to the local repair shop and he "worked on the board" that was messed up. Cost about the same as a new board would have, if I could have gotten one. Thanks for the great web site.

No video, has sound

Does the sound come on when it first turns on? If so, the high voltage transformer is probably bad. Most problems with powr in these sets are due to design flaws in the switch mode power supplies. It seems the bias voltage in the secondary side of the optoisolater is incorrect, causing overcurrent protection. They are not easily repaired and not cheap. Check the 2200uF capacitor for leaking current--replace.

Has sound, picture only comes on for a couple seconds at start up.

This is a Backlight Bulb or Inverter (power supply for backlight) failure.
If in warranty, take it to service
You can try to order an Inverter, or if needed you can get a replacement bulb (not easily available)
