My Denon AVR1611 powers up and the TV sound works just fine, but after 5 seconds or so the sound quits and I have to press the quick select sat/cable button to start it up again.

hi,
There are two types of input for sat/cable in your amplifier. One is the Digital input and the other is the Analogue input. You didn't specified which one is currently used by you.
However, if you connect the digital input then you have to configure the input assignment to digital and for analogue input configure as analogue.
If you use analogue input and input assignment is in digital mode then the problem mentioned by you can occur.

First of all check the input assignment for sat cable. for that do the following
1. Press the menu button on the amplifier's remote.
2. Select input setup
3.select input assinment ( check the input assignment for sat/cable, If you are using the analogue
input select it as analogue,if your are using the digital input then select it as digital.

How to program the autio vidio inputs for zenith tv

Hi cathie
If you have sound it means that the tv is in aux/video mode.
Now make sure that the video output of the vcr is connected to the same aux/video input that has the sound connected to. i.e input 1 or 2 .
Also you want to try and switch with another cable to make sure that the cable you are using now is o.k.
Another way to try the tv input would be to connect something else in that input(cable box ,dvd ,video game etc,)
Try it and let me know.

My harmony 550 always stops one input before the one I need on my TV. my tv has an input button that cycles thru all of the inputs. i've already checked that the inputs are listed properly on the setup...

On some TV's when you first press the input button it does not switch to the next input it just shows you the current input. It is the 2nd press that offten takes you to the next input in the list. This can cause problems with the Harmony. If your TV works this way then you will need to call Logitech and let them know about this issue. They can add the additional hit for you and then you can update your remote. If you are only using 2 inputs then A work around you can try is to tell the Harmony that there are more inputs, effectivly setting up Ghost inputs. You would put one ghost input after each input that you use. If there are 3 or more inputs then this trick will not work. The last work around is to remove unused inputs on your TV. Most TV will allow you to remove unused inputs. Then you can add one ghost input after each actual input: For example:
TV input1
Ghost1
DVD input2
Ghost2
VCR input 3
Ghost3

If I am missing some information just let me know.
I will do my best to help
Good Luck

Humming

Do not connect your PC output to the Phono input, it is a mismatch. Thye output from the PC will be "line level" or the same level as tape input, aux input, CD input etc. The phono input line contains an extra stage of amplification required for turntables. If you attempt to use that input, you will fry it. Any of the other inputs on the receiver will work for you.
