This problem is caused by one or more of your output devices (FET, Transistor, or IC) is shorted and causing the power rail to be connect through your speaker. Your amp boosts the 12v supply to a much higher +/- voltage rail which powers the amp's outputs. When the amp is shorted or overheated to a point of destruction you can end up with this problem.

It will need to be repaired by a technician.

SOURCE: not a problem just a question

  • 100 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
  • 200 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
  • 400 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms in bridged mode
  • stereo or bridged mono output
  • 4-ohm stable in bridged mode
  • Tri-Way capable
  • requires 8-gauge power and ground leads — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
  • 50-250 Hz high-pass/low-pass (12 dB/octave) crossovers
  • wired remote included for fingertip control of Punch Bass (0-18 dB boost at 45 Hz)
  • MOSFET power supply and output devices
  • MEHSA mounting technology increases the heat transfer from the MOSFET output devices to the heat sink, for higher power output, lower operating temperatures, and greater reliability
  • TOPAZ — noise-killing differential inputs that eliminate 80% of ground loop noise
  • Trans•ana circuitry keeps preamp voltages low and signal paths simple for outstanding audio quality
  • NOMAD — advanced protection circuitry for "intelligent" shutdown protection
  • speaker- and preamp-level inputs
  • 11-1/8"W x 2-3/8"H x 9-7/8"D

  • Wire your sub in bridged mode (4 ohm mono)
    + to + on amplifier
    - to - on amplifier
    (using bridging terminals)

SOURCE: mtx thunder 1500 watt amp no sound

Even if there is no visible damage, it could be that one of the transistors is blown, Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the transistors.

SOURCE: i have 4/3/2 ch. alpine f-240 amp- i want to hook

run two 6x8s on each of the front channels of the amp. then depending on the sub you can bridge it on the rear channels.only if its a single four ohm. if its a dual 2 ohm sub run each coil on each channel. 1 coil-1channel. the other coil-the other channel. amp should run fine may run a little hot since it will be doing all it can do at a safe ohm load. just make sure it is mounted in a well vented area. should be safe.

Try another set of speakers to see if that works. If so, it could be your subs. Also, check ohm reading on each sub.

Amp not working blue light is on?

You more than likely have subwoofer(s) wired too low for the amp. It's only stable down to 2 Ohms. You should rewire the sub(s) so that the amp will "see" a 4 or 2 Ohm load.

Hi i have a mtx jackhammer JH202 amp and a mtx jackhammer jJH5510D sub and every so often when a song is playing there will be bass and al of a sudden it will shut off and after a few minutes it will come...

The problem was caused by you trying to run a 2OHM load on an amplifier which is designed to run only on 4OHM when it is bridged, the amplifier is most definatley cooked. An authorized MTX technician should take a look at it, to determine just how wide spread the damage is.
