I had the same problem. Everyone continued to tell me that I needed a new heating element, clean lint trap, etc. However, I took the front off of the dryer and located the heating element. On the front of the heating element, in between two wires, there is a red button. Push the button and you might hear a click that sounds similar to a circuit breaker. It is a reset button for the heating element. Try that and it might help.

Last year this dryer failed to heat - called tech - they replaced heating element - 2 days later unit went down again - tech cam back cleaned out dyer vent. After 325.00 spent unit worked fine. Almost 1 year to date -unit failed to heat again, decided to look on line for repairs info as I was sure I would replace before having another service call charge. Found this video - took apart reset and put back together. Works beautifully. As a femal, was quite impressed I corrected the issue. I recognized the unit had probally overheated due to numerous of continues loads that are typically not normal for our family. Thanks for the video instruction!

I have the same dryer and had same problem it was really simple to fix it needs cleaned inside and may have to hit the red reset button. open the lid and on each side theres a plastic cap pop it up with a flat head unscrew them lift the lid and youll find two more screws on the face of the dryer take the out and simply lift the face pannel strait up clean all the lint out and check the red reset button on the bottom

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Won't heat - otherwise acts normally....

You could check for obstructed vent of excessive lint.

My fisher paykel DEGX1 won't heat up. everything else works fine.

If you have the same I do then it's the circuit breaker on the heating element. You have to take the front of the dryer off: Two screws on the top under the caps. Then lift the top alittle and you'll see the two screws on the front top sheet metal. The front then can be removed by pulling each side out and forward. The orange button is all the way at the bottom. Push and you'll hear it click.

Fisher and Paykel DEGX1 Electric Dryer Stays Warm

Yes, get a new element. The reason it's on all the time is because the element coils have broken and one of the coils is touching the canister that encloses it. This creates a direct short to ground. By the way, the element has 120 volts to it all the time. It will only HEAT when 240 is applied through the centrifugal switch of the motor. Your 120 volts is shorting to ground... not enough amps to trip the circuit breaker, but enough to glow the element.
