My display reads P.E and it won't paper feed, it wont add, and when it is reset or shut off and on again, it just reads the same message. I have replaced it with new batteries and it is plugged in so the power source is not the problem. Help to fix this?

1st try cleaning with alcohol and dry cloth the feed roller(pick-up roller) / separation roller if it not work feed roller must be already worn out you have to replaced it with new one. After the pick-up roller failed to pull the paper the 2nd sensor did not detect the paper that's why it indicate "Add paper".

Remove a misfed document if the copier displays a message
reading "Document Jam." Lift up the document feeder cover and turn the
roller to remove an Exit Misfed document. Lower the document feeder back
into place and feed the document through again. If the document is
jammed on the Input side, open the cover and gently pull the misfed
document to the right and out of the feeder.
Pull out the paper tray and lift the tray to release it from
the copier if the copier displays a message reading "Paper Jam O."
Remove the jammed document, and open and close the side panel of the
copier to clear the error message.
Unplug the power cord and plug it back in again if the copier
displays a message reading "Fuser Error, Open Heat Error, Heating Error
and Overheat." If the problem persists, call for a service.
Remove the toner cartridge and shake it from side to side if
the copier displays a message reading "No Developer Cartridge." If this
does not do the trick, you may need to replace the cartridge. Pull the
release latch to open the side cover, and open the front cover. Twist
the cartridge locking-lever upwards and remove the toner cartridge.
Insert the new cartridge and lock the lever into place. Shut the front
cover and the side cover.
Power off the unit and power it on again if the copier
displays a message reading "LSU Error." A problem has occurred with the
Laser Scanning Unit. If the problem persists, call for a service.
hello, on the machines display/control panel there is a switch for paper feed, it might be set up for lower tray or back tray, depending on where you are feeding paper. also the computer usually overrides the printer, so might check to see if the paper setting on computer is set for the tray you are using.
So it sounds like the machine is not feeding paper from the paper cassette. This is a common problem.
There are 2 possibilities. 1 easy and one a little tougher. The simple fix is cleaning the paper feed tires. Just pull out the paper cassette, then remove all the paper. You will see 2 felt type pads on the spring loaded metal plate. Spray these 2 pads with some glass cleaner. Dry the metal plate a little then lock the plate down and re-install the cassette without paper! Make sure the lower tray is selected for paper feeding and press the print button. The machine should try to feed a few times then shut down with a P in the display. Reset the P using the clear key then press print again. Repeat this procedure 5 or 6 times. Then remove the tray, dry the pads a bit then re-load the paper, re-install the tray and give it a try. If dirty feed rollers were the cause then this procedure will fix it. Let me know how this works out.

Check your user manual for resetting the printer to factory default settings.
If that doesn't work, unplug your printer from the computer and uninstall your software through Add/Remove Hardware. Shut down your computer and reboot. Reinstall your printer software, following the instructions carefully.
This should clear up your problem.
Let me know if you still are having problems. :)
