The serial number for your laptop, regardless of the brand, should be on the manufacturer's product label/sticker on the bottom side on the laptop.

What is the S/N location on a Samsung galaxy prevail lte

Boost Mobile Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE SM-G360: IMEI #:

To retrieve your IMEI #.. Here's several ways of doing it:

(1) The easiest way, on the phone call dial pad enter:
*#06#

(2) If you had cellular service on that device. Call your Service Provider for your IMEI #. They will have this available in their own records.

(3) If the phone was not activated on a cellular service yet, contact the Seller who sold it to you.. Many Sellers write down the IMEI # for their records.

(4) It could be on a label on the original box it came in..

(5) The other way to retrieve the IMEI # of that cell phone is to check your Google Account.. As long as you had set up your Google/Gmail account on your phone.

Here's how to do it:
On a computer internet browser, go to:
http://google.com/settings

Sign-in to your Google account and then select the "Expand All" tab which will list all your devices connected to your Google account and all of their IMEI #'s

My toshiba HDD (Model-MK3265GSX) Serial Nunmbet 40LDF2NIS KK 8 EC . A has failed. It is not readable from outside. In order to recover the data, I need another good Toshiba HDD with a serial number close...

If the drive has failed then the only option to recover data is to send it to a data recovery service but these are not cheap.

Installing another drive with a close batch/serail number will not allow you to copy from a dead drive.

I would be connecting to a regular desktop computer and trying some of the free data recovery software available such as hirens boot cd.

ANY drive within the max and type supported could be used in your laptop.

Thses are common problems with laptops and in most cases I recover data (when the drive is not too damaged) as i described above.

I then install a new and often larger drive and build the system from the recovery CD's available from the laptop manufacturer.

Then old transfer any old data I recovered back to a folder on the new drive so that customers have access to anything that was saved.

The only sure way of getting everything back from a damaged drive is to send it off but that is only of use to you if your data is mission critical.

I use the cheap USB to IDE/SATA adaptors often available from good computer shops.

My laptop was stolen, the police said they can track it if i gave them an IP address, I dont know what the IP address is but I do have the serial number, how can I get the Ip address using the serial...

Stolen laptop can only be recovered if you have MAC address of laptop. IP adress are temporary and can be changed or altered, its not worthy to find IP instead try to get MAC adress.
If you have registerd your laptop with its Manufacturing Site like Lg, DELL etc then you can contact them and probably by providing them serial no. you can get MAC address. Every machine ha different MAC address and I am sure with your serial no. you can get this information from your dealer or manufacturer. GOOD LUCK

On recovery I get 2 messages. The first is

I am assuming you are recovering from a HDD partition and not form a CD.

This means you have serious HDD either physical damage to the HDD (aka you dropped the laptop while it was turned on) or psychical damage to the HDD (like windows did a messy thing while writing files to the HDD).

The fact is that you will not be able to recover from the files you have now, no matter how many times you try. The files are damaged.

Try contacting ACER and ask them for the recovery CDs (pe sure to have the laptop near you as they will ask for serial number, model number etc.

Best from here and good luck !
