Sony kdf-60xs955,turns off, red blinks 5 times???

looked at operating instructions, called SONY......
Sometimes problem turning on.....
turn on green light flashes, holds for a couple of seconds, flashes green again
for 1 minute, then flashes 5 times red......bought because I thought was rated
a great tv......WE HAVE FAMILY COMING FOR THANKSGIVING.....WHAT DO I DO FIX IT SELL IT.......NEVER BUY SONY AGAIN......I HAVE FRIENDS WITH OTHER BRANDS NEVER HAVING PROBLEMS! I HAVE
HAD TV'S THAT LASTED 20 YEARS PLUS WITH NO PROBLEMS!!!!! ALL THESE PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEM AND NO ONE HAS
FOUND A ANSWER??????

Mine does a similiar dance. It cuts off and on all day. I can't find where my husband put the manual. If I should just replace the bulb, can you recommend where I can purchase one?

Tv will come on but shuts itself back off

Sounds like it just needs a new lamp.
The way to tell is the lights in front:
green blinking as TV reboots = bad lamp
red three blinks = door switch
red four blinks = bad fan
6 or 9 blinks = bad thermal fuse

My sony kdf 60xs955 comes off but only blueish like glow on dark splash all over the screen and blinks green ten timesand then 37 times on green.and the screen goes off

IT TURN OFF ITSELF RIGHT AFTER TURN ON GREEN

Hi,
If the Lamp red light is blinking then replace lamp, replacement procedure is written in user manual and its easy.
If standby/ power red light is blinking then please count its blinking and post here. It is an error code that has info about problem in specific section of tv.
You will see 3 seconds long pause between blinks so count pause to pause.

Kdf-60xs955 red continous blinking lamp light

It's in standby mode.

Do a reset and see what happens

While holding down the reset button on the remote
Press the power button on the tv
(The tv will turn itself off the back on)
Now release the reset button

It sounds like the lamp needs replaced.

Sony kdf-60xs955 picture but no sound

Check your TV menu and see if the internal speakers are turned off. Sony opts to cut sound to the internal speakers when you have an external audio amp hooked up for sound, hopefully for obvious reasons. Most audio amp problems inside the TV will result in 9 blinks of the red power light and the TV failing to turn on. If that doesn't help, you may need to have the set repaired.
