Called 'Subtitles' or 'Closed Captioning'. No Make and Model given so we can only supply generic advice
How to turn off subtitles on DVD?
Subtitles can be turned on or off by pressing the SUBTITLE button on the remote control while the disc is playing. NOTE: Not all discs have subtitles. Make sure that the packaging of the disc specifies that it has subtitles.

Hi,
The Subtitle option is available only with the connected devices like DVD Player, Blu-ray Disc Player etc. The option avaialble in the TV is known as Closed Caption. The Closed caption option can be turned off by selecting the options below:
Press Menu button on the TV Remote.
Select, Setup settings.
Then select Caption Vision option to OFF.
This option is for turning off the Closed Caption option in the TV to OFF. For disabling the Subtitle option in the connected devices like DVD Player and Blu-ray Disc Player, press the SUBTITLE button on the supplied Remote continuously to select OFF.
In few of the TV broadcasting channels the Subtitles cannot be turned OFF as this is being broadcasted with the channels.
Good Luck!

Hiya, have bought an Alba 26" LCD TV myself today. If you go into the menu and then into subtitles change it from English to Dutch. This should solve the problem. :-)
If you are using the original remote, there should be an extra button marked 'CC' Cycling that button will probably offer more than one choice.
Typically it will include CC on mute, CC on, CC off.
If that isn't present, you should be able to access audio settings through the main setup menu.
