The power supply for the led's may not be dimmable. Not sure if this dimmer is for led but I assume that's why you bought it.

SOURCE: replaced existing Lutron skylark low voltage dimmer

You will need to return the 3-way dimmer and get a single pole dimmer, as the Lutron Skylark series is suspectible to failure if connected to a live circuit first, or misconnected at intial installation. As an electrician, I ceased using these dimmers years ago, due to the rash of call-backs by customers and went with Leviton togglers and have had excellent results.

If you purchased it at a 'big box' store, they will accept the return as a defective item, as they have national agreements with their suppliers to accept customer returns. Just tell them it didn't work and you want a store credit, you can then purchase the lower priced single pole dimmer you need and save some money in the process too.

Hope you find this Very Helpful - best regards!

White from dimmer to Neutral (Whites) in wall
Yellow from dimmer to wire out to light (usually black)

SOURCE: I installed a Lutron LG

The correct way to wire this switch is the wire that was on the gold or dark colored screw of the old three way switch is called the shunt or common terminal. The wire connected to this terminal is to be connected to the black wire of the three way dimmer. The other two wires are connected to the silver or light colored terminals of the switch. These are the traveler terminals. The traveler wires may be connect to either traveler terminal - it does not matter which.

If you have already disconnected the old switch, simply connect the dimmer wires to the house wires as shown top to bottom in each configuration below until you get it to work as expected:

Config1 Config2 Config3

B R R B R R B R R Dimmer Wires: B = Black R= Red R = Red
R W B B R W W R B House Wires: R = Red W= White B= Black

In two configurations or less, you'll have found the correct wiring for the switch. I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Transformer hum with dimmers is a problem. Lutron may offer you an inductor to add to the wire to help. Replacing your 50w bulbs with 12w LED bulbs may help, too. Same light output.

I have a DL-3PSLHW-WH switch with no wiring diagram. It is single pole or 3-way. Need diagram.

You posted under Lutron 3-way dimmer.

You didn't say the number of screw terminals on device or color of those screws.
If your device has two brass screws, then it is single pole.
If your device has 2 brass screws and 1 dark screw, then device is 3-way
If you are replacing 3-way switch, identify wire on dark screw >> connect this wire to dark screw on dimmer. Other two wires connect to either brass screw.

If device has wires instead of screws, the color of those wires is an important clue.
Answer back with the colors of those wire and it is easier to help.

Different dimmers are suitable for different types of lighting.
In an effort to help you, I searched my files for Lutron dimmers.
Lutron has 17 dimmer types, with numerous models under each type
They don't show DL-3PS
http://www.lutron.com/Products/StandAloneControls/Dimmers-Switches/Pages/DimmersSwitches.aspx

Lutron has NT-3PS
http://www.lutron.com/Products/StandAloneControls/Dimmers-Switches/NovaTDimmer/Pages/ModelNumbers.aspx

The NT-3PS is a 3-way dimmer.
Here is wiring manual:

Our lutron three way dimmers leak when off. There appears to be about 8 volts still going to the fixtures. That causes the transformers on the fixtures to sing when off. Probably not good for...

If each fixture has an individual transformer, the chace is that they are electronic (about the size of a matchbox car) If so, you have the wrong dimmer installed. You will need to install a MAELV (Electronic Low Voltage) Dimmer. The regular dimmers are set up for Magnetic Low Voltage and incandescent which work differently. http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/362219.pdf

Here is a link to the difference in how they work. Also, if they are a Low Wattage light like an LED, the dimmer may not have enough resistance to bleed off the excess voltage. The MAW-600 has a minimum load of either 25 or 40 watts. If you are operating LED's you may also need a Low Wattage Interface to act as a simulated load that wires in series with your lights. (lut-lbx)

If it gets too anoying until you get the proper dimmer, you can switch the Air Gap switch at the bottom to the off position. This completely disconnects the power to the load side of the dimmer.

Good Luck

No it means you have a short somewhere in the wireing. disconnect the power unhook the switches and use an ohm meter to test the wires to see if you have contact between the wires, black to white and black to bare ground wire. if it's a three way wire test all of them, if you used tsaoles to hold it in place check where you put the staples in you may find you have a staple ran threw two wires. Or if you pulled the wire and pulled it around a hard corner you may have pulled the insolation off somewhere the above test will confirm this. This is assumeming you are testing line voltage without a step down transformer or any other device in the circut

Lutron skylark s-10p 1000w dimmer. why is one

This video from the Lutron site shows the Diva switch but it is the video for the Skylark single pole switch also. It makes no mention of one wire being a larger gauge and does not differentiate which wire connects to line power and which to load. I do not think the wire gauge makes any difference.

3 pole dimmer not completely working

there is not way to know how the wires are run by the description.
it is possible to connct true 3-way switch, it will required additonal pair of wires to all 3 switches (meaning 3-14/3 wire).
so call 3-way switches is only two way. I have not seems a real 3-way switches.
go to the following site. they a connection diag. for the switches.

How many dimmers types?

Certain dimmers can control standard incandescent lamps that use 120 volts while other dimmers can control low voltage xenon or halogen light sources that use 12 or 24 volts.
