Had the same problem with the Mitsubishi ws 48511 model. A solution posted in FixYa worked great and might be worth trying as they have very similar electronics and panels -- did you check to make sure that one of the front panel buttons isn't stuck in the depressed postition? For me, the device menu kept cycling and remote wouldn't work. Sure enough, the button was stuck pushed in. It was hard to even notice, but took little effort to get it free. Good luck.

Hold down EJECT button
on the front of the TV set and the MENU button on the remote at the same time
for at least 4 seconds. Depending on the model, one of the methods should
unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip
by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to
MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.
Most RCA sets use a
four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on
the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you.

Front Panel
Selecting this option lets you lock (disable) or unlock (enable) the TV's front
panel buttons. The remote still tunes to any channel so remember to remove
access to any remote that can operate the television.
1. Choose Parental Control from the Main Menue and press the OK button.
2. Enter your passworcd.
3. Press the down arrow to highlight Front Panel.
4. Press the right or left arrow button to choose unlock (_) or lock (_).
I don't remember my password and I want to unlock the TV
If you forget your password, you must reset it. Make sure the TV is of. Press VOL- (down) on the TV's front panel and then
CLEAR on the remote for approxhnately 5 seconds. The TV turns on. Enter a new password next time you access
the PARENATAL CONTROL menu or the TIME_menu.
2 Press CH UP button on the remote control or on the TV front panel to start Auto Program, or press CH DOWN button to Exit.
When you start autoprogramme, wait until it is finished; otherwise it will skip over channels that are available. If it happens so, perform autoprogram again by turning on the power button.
The initial set up screen appears each time you turn on TV until you perform auto program.
To perform Auto Program again
1 Press "Menu" button.
2 Press"=>"to highlight Channel Menu.
3 Press "Down arrow button" to highlight Cable. Press "+" button to select.
4 Press "Up Arrow button" or 'Down arrow button"to highlight On or Off according to how you connected your TV. Press "+" to select.
5 Press "Down arrow button" to highlight Auto Program. Press [+] to search for channels
6 After Auto Program finishes press "Menu button" to exit.
To reset the TV to factory settings
1 Turn the TV on.
2 Hold down [Reset key] on the remote control.
3 Press and release the POWER button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn itself off,
then back on.
4 Release [Reset] key.
